Neglected - Pink and Gray Stripes
When I was looking through my closet and blog archives, I was surprised at how many things I haven't worn in a long time. So in the heat of the moment, I decided I should add "last date blogged" to my closet spreadsheet. It's getting really nerdy, you guys. Anyway, it has been really interesting for me to see what things I am neglecting! Some of the items just aren't making the blog, like my fuchsia stocking cap, which I wear almost every day of the winter, but remove before taking pictures, because it is outerwear! But other things are really just taking up space in my closet and not being worn. I found 72 items that haven't been on the blog in the last year. And since I blog almost every outfit, this means I haven't worn most of these things in the last year.
Some of these items are going straight in the donate/sell piles. But a few are things I like, and decided I needed to wear. So I'm going to be working these into the rotation, and hopefully get away from having so much stuff that I don't even wear!
Which brings me to this sweater. If memory serves, I bought it in 2009 on the day after Christmas, when Gap was having their big buy one, get one free sale on sweaters. I bought this gray sweater in the same trip, but it gets worn a lot more. I do think I wore this striped sweater quite a bit for a couple years, but just not since I started blogging. Or maybe I wear it on days when I don't take pictures? I don't know. But it's pretty and cozy and I think it deserves some love. So I wore it on a very cold day in early February.
Oh, and just for the record, I should have done the trick where you wear a camisole between the button shirt and the sweater, because I have some awkward little bumps where the buttons are sticking out. (And I feel the need to point out that my belly button has not popped at this point of pregnancy).
Sweater: Gap
Shirt: JCF
Necklace: F21
Jeans: H&M Maternity
Boots: Madden
Haha I didn't even notice the buttons until you said something! I try to make a point of wearing things I haven't worn in a while pretty often. Like, I'll just pull out that item and plan an outfit around it. But some things still get neglected! I really like your sweater, and it goes really well with the patterned blouse!

ReplyDeleteI also didn't even notice the buttons until you pointed it out. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is a super-cute sweater on you Andi! It definitely deserves more time in the closet rotation. I tried doing the thing where you turn the hangars backwards until you wear something, but then I forgot and it just got irritating - maybe I should make a spreadsheet like you!
Great Look!

*PS - My belly button never popped with either of my pregnancies... so you might be in luck!
First off, your comment on my blog cracked me uupppppppppp! I went back and looked and I totally do look like a botched PS job ;) Anyway, I didn't notice the buttons at all! Whoops!
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the buttons-- the first thing I noticed were the brown splotches on your wall. Then I scrolled down and realized those splotches are on this computer (which I share with two dudes-- what are they doing in here and what are those stains?!). I hope to see more of this sweater in the future!
ReplyDeletelove how you keep a spread sheet of you clothes. I so need to do that.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the buttons either :) I love the pattern mixing of the sweater and blouse! I have a short-sleeve tee that has pink and grey stripes almost exactly like this and I haven't worn it in months either. Actually I probably have quite a few things that I haven't worn in awhile... time to purge or get more creative!
ReplyDeleteOoh! I love the idea of an outfit spreadsheet. Excel nerds unite!
ReplyDeleteI really love the combination of the paisley-ish shirt with bold stripes. Very cute!
Great layering! The idea of a spreadsheet totally resonates with me, another hyper-organized fashion blogger. I love that idea. Should have started that up this week when I was stuck indoors due to an ice storm!
ReplyDelete♥ perfectly Priya
Last date worn sounds like something I want to do in my closet too. Nerds unite!
ReplyDeleteNerdy clothing spreadsheets for the win!!!! I was up late last night (like way past my bedtime) transferring my clothing spreadsheet (which has tracked all of my outfits and clothing items and all kinds of other things since May of 2012...) from an Excel document to a Google spreadsheet. It was super fun, actually, hahaha. hashtagnerdlife
ReplyDeleteI love the gray and pink together, by the way - you look so pretty in pink!
