Top 10 Remix
Double post today, because I wanted to kick off my plan for April. This may or may not be a good idea, but I can't resist any kind of fun style challenge, so I'm going to at least give it a go. You can read all the details over at Sarah's Real Life.
The point is to pick 10 items that are "so me" and then include at least one of those items in each of your outfits for April. Since I'm working with about 20% of my current wardrobe (Pregnancy Style Challenge!!), my picks are based on what currently fits (and what I assume will still fit for the rest of the month). By necessity, these tend to be items that are both loved and frequently worn. If I was doing this any other time, there would be a lot less neutral and a lot more crazy patterns in my top 10. Also, April is a tricky month, because there is about equal chance we will have snow or 85 degrees on any given day. Maybe both within the same week? So I think these pieces should work either way.
Small asterisk - I added the striped shoes assuming they fit when they arrive in the mail. I might swap them out if I decide to return them. The floral scarf isn't exact, but I wanted to include it in my collage. This is the one I'm using. The other items are all exact, I think.
Big asterisk - I'm 100% aware that I might drop out at some point, just because I have no idea what the next 4 weeks will bring. It's entirely possible (though not super likely) that my kid could be born at the end of April, or that I will just be so enormous and miserable that I have no ability to get dressed. We shall see!
I still am excited to see how you take this challenge. I always loved seeing Sarah do her take one and pass it on challenge. As much as I want to join in on this one, I'm just not sure I could pick 10 items that are "me," though it would probably be a great exercise.
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to participate in Sarah's challenge for real, but with the ever changing temperatures, I'm just going to phone it in. I couldn't pick ten items that are "me" either. At first I included white jeans in the list - they're classic and versatile, just like me, right? Or is what's so "me" the kind of things I find myself wearing on and off the blog? So hard to figure out, but that's what the weekend is for, right!? I look forward to seeing how you do this month and what happens.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had planned ahead to participate in this challenge--it sounds fun! I'm so backlogged on posts though, that I'll just have to live vicariously through you :)
ReplyDeleteYeah. I am also doing this, picking items currently and getting a little late start but still. I will do my best to follow all of Whitney's prompts also, because apparently I cannot resist style challenges, either.
ReplyDeleteMan, the struggle was real picking the 10 items. It's like, "hmm...what will this child do to my body this month? Is this a safe item to put on the list?" haha. I decided to go for it since you are.
ReplyDeleteGreat challenge idea, and I think you definitely are allowed to tweak it however you need :)
ReplyDeleteI end up doing this a lot, accidentally, when I find something I love but haven't worn in a while. I tend to then wear it a few days in a row! I think you have some solid, versatile choices here. Is that another Clare cardigan from JCF? I love those on you!

I give you a lot of credit for giving this challenge a try, at least! I'm eager to see all your outfits...I'll keep on reading!! :)
