Story of a Girl

I heard "Absolutely (Story of a Girl)" on the radio the other day, and was like "yeah, this is my jam!" and remembered my angsty teenage years, when I thought this was pretty much my theme song.  Probably every other 15 year old girl thought the same thing.  (No?  I'm just a weirdo?)

I mean, how was this not about me?
  • My hair never falls in quite the same way
  • I never run out of things to say
  • I "cried a river" pretty frequently - I'm an emotional girl!  It's gotten better, I promise.
Of course, I just ignored the lyrics that I didn't understand, or didn't apply to me (no holes in the soles of my shoes).

Now that I'm older and wiser, I suspect songwriters just throw a bunch of quirky behavior into their lyrics, so every girl in the world will relate to the song.  I guess that's okay.

Please tell me I'm not alone here - are there any songs you thought were about you?  Like every green-eyed girl in the world did with Coldplay's "Green Eyes"?

Not Scarf Weather

I bought this scarf when I was in Arizona, and I really love it.  It has blue, green, turquoise, coral, black and white in it, so I'm trying to wear it with everything.  On one of the 100+ degree days, I thought the scarf was an easy way to dress up a simple skirt and tank top.  I didn't really think about the consequences of wearing a scarf on a 100+ degree day.  Let's just say my neck was uncomfortably warm.

Zoo Day

One full week of crazy fun with my sister and nieces is over and I'll be recapping our adventures in the next few days.  On their first day here, we went to the zoo.  These pictures don't even begin to capture the amount of fun we had.

One of the highlights of the day was watching this guy's training session.  White tigers are so beautiful!

Of course we had to pose with the jeep.

Adventures in the rainforest

This isn't really an outfit post, but when you go to the zoo, comfort and function have to take precedence over fashion.  I was excited to wear my new shorts and tank top from H&M.  The hat and sunglasses are pretty much a necessity.  I was going to wear my white visor, but I didn't really like it with my outfit, so I borrowed John's new hat.  I put my hair in a braid because I thought that would be cuter than a ponytail.  And tennis shoes were also a must, since I knew we would be walking around quite a bit.  SO, there you go.  If you are ever in Omaha, make sure you check out the zoo.  It's pretty great.
