Embarrassed Zebra

What's black and white and red all over?  Well, me in this outfit.  Or a newspaper (read, haha), or an embarrassed zebra.  That's what I kept thinking about this outfit.

I'm sure all kids go through the cheesy jokes phase, and my nieces are definitely at that point.  They were throwing puns around the whole week that they were here.  Laffy Taffy wrappers were their accomplices.  Luckily, one of my best friends/college roommates is an expert cheesy joke teller, so I have several options to impress my nieces.  A few of my favorites:

Q - What do you call cheese that isn't yours?
A - NACHO CHEESE! (Not 'yo cheese, get it!)

Q - What's blue and smells like green paint?
A - Blue paint!

Two muffins are in the oven.  One of them says "Is it hot in here, or is it just me?"
The other one says "AAAAAAHHHH!  A talking muffin!"

What's your favorite cheesy/punny joke?

PS - If you missed me last week, it's because I was on vacation and the "free wifi" wasn't really "working", so blogging wasn't possible.  We just got home last night, so I'll be catching up this week.

Half a Decade

On Saturday, John and I celebrated 5 years of marriage!  If you have been hanging around the blog this week, you knew this was happening.  If you want to know how we spent the last several July 28ths, catch up here:

Anyway, for the big 5 year anniversary, we took a trip to St. Croix.  I tried to trick John into another vacation but he was to smart to fall for it, so on Saturday, we just hung around here.  We went to brunch and then had a lazy afternoon.  John got me a new iPod, so I was playing around getting it set up.  Then we went out for a nice dinner.   Here we are dressed up for dinner:

At the restaurant, I asked John to take a few outfit photos, which proved more difficult than we expected.  The wind was not cooperating:

We finally got a few good ones:

We had a lovely dinner and then walked around the outdoor mall.  There was some live music, but I think we were a few decades younger than the intended demographic, so we didn't hang around too long.

On Sunday, we continued the anniversary festivities with Noodles&Company for lunch after church.

Sunday evening, we went to see Weezer - one of our favorite bands!  I remember listening to the Blue album when it came out (many many years ago).  I thought Buddy Holly and Undone were the coolest songs ever.  It kind of blows my mind that 17 years later, I'm at a Weezer concert with my husband of 5 years, listening to them play those songs.  Ten-year-old Andi would never believe it!

Anyway, I'd say it was a pretty successful anniversary.  Here's to many more years!

Skirting the Issue

This skirt is a dress.  I bought it at H&M in 2007 over Memorial Day weekend when we were visiting my family in Indy.  If memory serves, it was about $15, and I have worn it so many times over the last 5 years.  I love it when "fast fashion" turns into a closet workhorse!  The last few times I have pulled it out of the closet, I've folded the top under and worn it as a skirt.  The top just doesn't fit quite right anymore, so I'm thinking about committing to the skirt and chopping the top off.  I think I am getting addicted to easy refashions!  Soon all my dresses will be chopped into skirts!

Sporting a Mullet

No, I didn't get a new haircut.  I just got a new skirt!

After months of admiring other bloggers, and searching high and low (get it? high-low!), I've finally found the perfect mullet skirt for me.  I've tried on quite a few options over the past few months, but none were quite right.  Mostly, they were WAY too short in the front.  I mean, scandalously short.  So, I was pretty happy when I happened upon this skirt on the clearance rack at the Limited, and the length was actually reasonable for a taller-than-average classy lady in her mid- late-20s.

Now I just need to think of interesting ways to style this skirt.  What would you wear with it??

Zebra Dress

Remember when I wore this zebra skirt and I said it was really a dress?

Well, here's the proof that it is, in fact, a dress!

I've had this dress for a few years, and I've only ever worn it with flip flops.  I just wasn't sure about heels with a maxi dress, but I think it is the right decision.  I also think I would like this outfit better without the cardigan, but April is a little early for strapless dresses, even if it was 90+ degrees on the day I wore this.
