Polka Dot Week - Dress

Polka Dot Week continues with an oldie but a goodie!  This dress is from way back in 2008.  I've worn it a lot over the last 5 years.  I remember when I bought it, I wasn't sure how to style it, but it has actually been pretty versatile for me.

It's a good reminder that something you love may not seem like a closet staple, but it very well may become one!  Do you have any items that you bought on a whim and then became frequently remixed pieces?

Remember to play along for the Polka Dot Link Up on Friday!  I want to see your polka dot outfits!

Winter White, Part 2

These pictures are from a few weeks ago, before this happened.  This was one of my winter white options for linking up with Bri, but I liked the other one better.

I don't have much else to say.  I hope the snow melts off our deck enough that I can take pictures out there again soon!  I don't know if I am brave enough to set up the tripod in the front yard!

300th Post and Blogiversary

I can't believe it has been one year since I started this little blog!  Time flies when you are having fun, I guess.    One of my favorite posts from the year was this "Repeat Offender" one, where I showed some of my most worn pieces.  One of the reasons I started blogging was to get out of my style rut.  I was wearing the same outfits on a rotation and was just getting pretty bored with it.  In the last year, I've really had fun trying new and different combinations!  Here are just a few of my frequently worn pieces:

Cognac - the Color, not the Brandy

I'm pretty excited about my new cognac boots.  I'll be honest.  I know almost nothing about Cognac.  Wikipedia just informed me that it's a type of brandy, which I also know nothing about, unless we are talking about the singer.  In that case, I can probably sing "The Boy is Mine" from memory.  That's a song I never really understood.  I mean, if I had a boyfriend who had another girlfriend, I don't think I would want to keep him.  But I digress...

Also, it is 10/11/12.  Pretty cool.  I should probably set this post to go live at 7:89am, but that would just be 8:29, and not very cool.  I'm going with 8:09am.  So, 08:09am 10/11/12 will have to be good enough for a post about brandy and Brandy and boots.

To Cardi or Not to Cardi

I started off the day wearing this blue cardigan.  Then I remembered how warm my office gets in the afternoon and I had to shed the extra layer.

So, what do you think?  Is this outfit better with or without the cardigan?

Sunshine Day

It's seriously so nice outside.  As I sit in my office looking out the windows, I just want to take a walk outside.  Like the sun is calling my name.  I just can't stay inside all day.  Someone should write a song about this.  Oh wait, they did.

And now you can have the song stuck in your head all day, just like I do.  You're welcome.

Pearls:  Gift from China (every time I write this, it's like the country of China sends me presents.  I wish I was that cool.  Countries don't send me presents.  Just to be clear, the gift was from my friend Kim, which she purchased in China).

Romantical

The theme for today is Romance.  I think a dress with ruffles and pink polka dots is appropriate.  I got this dress a few years ago at (you guessed it) the Gap.  It was on sale, and I was convinced before I even tried it on.  I then found out that my sister thought it was one of the ugliest dresses ever.  Of course, I ignored her opinion and bought the dress.

About a year ago, my dress was on an episode of Law and Order.  You know how there's usually a random person who finds the body at the beginning?  Well, there was a couple on a date, and the woman was wearing this dress.  I immediately emailed my sister to tell her.

I've generally worn it with neutrals, like gray or brown, but recently I've tried bright cardigans with it.  I think it's okay, but the turquoise and light pink reminds me a little too much of early 90s interior decoration.
