Neglected Chevron Skirt

My first real blog post was about refashioning this skirt.  I really thought I'd do more sewing posts on the blog, but then I don't do as much sewing as I expected I might.  But this was a good project, and I was very happy with how it turned out.  And then I haven't worn it for just over a year!  What's up with that?  It doesn't transition into summer at all, so I think it just got moved to the back of the skirts and I forgot about it.  I'll have to try wearing it in the next month before it starts to warm up.

My first outfit post featured this pink cardigan.  I've worn it a lot over the years and it's getting a little faded.  I got a sort of replacement for Christmas, but it's a little bit of a different shade, so I'm not sure I am ready to get rid of this one.  I'm allowed to have 2 pink boyfriend cardigans, right?

Tough

Take One, Pass It On Item: boyfriend shirt from last Friday's post

I recently learned that someone in my office described me as "tough."  When I told various other people (husband, sister, friends), they all laughed heartily.  I'm about as NOT tough as is humanly possible.  There are several definitions (according to Merriam-Webster):
  1. characterized by severity or uncompromising determination <tough laws> <tough discipline>
  2. capable of enduring strain, hardship, or severe labor <tough soldiers>
  3. very hard to influence : stubborn <a tough negotiator>
  4. difficult to accomplish, resolve, endure, or deal with <a tough question> <tough luck>
  5. stubbornly fought <a tough contest>
  6. unruly, rowdyish <a tough gang>
  7. marked by absence of softness or sentimentality <a tough critic>
The only one that I could maybe believe about myself is #4.  I'm sometimes "difficult to deal with", but that is because I am so sensitive, so I'm not sure we can really apply it in this case.

I just thought it was funny - the perceptions others have of us are sometimes very far from reality!  And I figured I should let you all know the truth, just in case you haven't figured it out: I'm not really tough at all.

Green Giant

I love colorful tights as much as the next fashion blogger, but I always feel a little bit like Peter Pan or this guy when I wear my green ones.  With that in mind, I try to keep the rest of my outfit more subdued.  Green tights just gives a little extra holiday cheer, right?

Speaking of holiday cheer, there's just one more day and then it is Christmas!  I might be just a little bit excited.

Short Skirt, Long Jacket

I guess my skirt isn't that short, and my jacket isn't that long, but the jacket is longer than the skirt, so I'm going to say it counts.

I wore this to church last Sunday.  It was pretty cold and snowy outside, so I basically decided to wear sweater material from neck to toe.  Sweater, sweater skirt, fleece-lined tights.  Perfect!

I'm so glad I made this skirt!  I'm linking this up to the U for Unexpected day over at the ABC Challenge.  Upon first glance, this isn't unexpected at all, but when you realize the skirt used to be a sweater, I think it qualifies.

I'm also linking up to Bloggers Do It Better, over at Pretty Shiny Sparkly.  This is my first time participating in BDIB!  Have I said how much I love all these link up challenges??

Pleather Jacket

I've been on the lookout for a black moto jacket for awhile, and somehow ended up choosing this white one instead.  Oops!  Guess I'll just have to keep looking for a black one, preferable in real leather.

Sweater = Skirt

My sister gave me this Kenneth Cole sweater for Christmas a looong time ago.  I loved it, and wore it all the time.  I've almost gotten rid of it a few times, with various closet clean-outs, but couldn't quite give it up.

After years of not wearing it, I decided I either needed to donate it to Goodwill, or make it into something I would actually wear:  a fun sweater skirt!

I just took another skirt to measure the size, and then sewed some elastic around the top.  Pretty quick for a brand new skirt!  Also a pretty cool way to spend your Friday night.
