Channeling Mindy

Basically, if I could steal any fictional character's wardrobe, it would have to be Mindy Lahiri from The Mindy Project.  She wears lots of bright colors and crazy patterns, so we are basically style soul-mates.  I'm probably pretty obnoxious when watching the show, because I'm always saying I want her outfit, or I have the same items to copy it.  John is not as invested in the wardrobe choices as I am.

I couldn't find any internet evidence of it, but this outfit is 97% stolen from Mindy.  She was wearing a navy cardigan instead of a v-neck, and I honestly don't remember her footwear, but the basic idea came from her.  I also love Mindy Kaling's book.  She just seems like a person I would actually want to be friends with.  And I don't want to be friends with very many celebrities, because most of them seem pretty terrible.

It's Tuesday, so go link up with Laura!

  1. Would you believe me if I told you I spent most of this morning reading/watching Mindy Kaling around the internet (many a rabbit hole off of a BuzzFeed article.) I've loved her since I first saw her on The Office (when she was a very minor character the first season!) She is the best. And yes, the fashion on The Mindy Project is to DIE for. And then I tried to pre-order her next book online, couldn't find it. Well, good work emulating her in an outfit. Great color combo, and way to still dress fun even in the snow!

    here's that article: http://www.buzzfeed.com/stephanieanderson/33-times-mindy-kaling-was-the-queen-of-2014

  2. Mindy Kaling is one of my favorites! Have you read her book yet? (I feel like we discussed that before.) It's hilarious and a great read. There's also a blog dedicated to what she wears. If I had bottomless pockets, I would dress just like her too. You channeled her quite nicely here.

  4. I totally agree with you! I used to love her work outfits but lately I love the way she does casual so well. Maybe it's that I'm in my "sweatshirts are socially acceptable for any situation" phase but still. Also, did you know there's snow in your pictures? ha. I just noticed that now. Lucky duck. We haven't had any and the weather people say we shouldn't expect any until February. Whaaaa?!

  7. I've never seen her show but I did love her in her book! I love the color of that skirt so I, too, think I would like her style!

  8. Yep, I love me some Mindy Kaling as well! I've never actually watched The Mindy Project before (since it's not on Netflix, haha), but I've heard that I would love it! And I have seen a lot of screenshots of the show, and her outfits are so adorable!! I should see if there are Mindy-inspired outfits on Pinterest that I could take a peek at for inspiration :)
