Some Random Thoughts

Confession: this is a maternity dress.  I've quickly learned that you can be tall, or you can be pregnant, but if you happen to be both, retailers are not interested in creating clothes for you to wear.  This dress seemed fine the first time I wore it.  And then this time, it felt waaaay too short.  So I think it will have to fall into tunic status and only work with jeans or leggings from now on.

Can we also talk about chocolate brown?  Is this no longer an acceptable color in fashion?  I bought these brown tights, and then got them home and realized that I don't know if I have anything to wear with them.  I added a brown cardigan to my wishlist a while ago, and haven't seen any options around.  It seems like camel/cognac/oatmeal are taking over right now.

  1. I hear ya. What ever happened to brown? I still wear my brown tights and boots though so hopefully I am not committing too big of a fashion faux pas! :)

  2. I have some brown tight two. I think I have worn them just once. Don't you hate when clothes shrink.

  3. Love that print! As a short person with a super long torso, I have found the same to be true when trying on maternity dresses, and tunics are just not my style. Excited to see how you style your bump!

  4. I totally get what you are saying about chocolate brown. I've always liked having brown heels and brown pants in my rotation of workwear, but a few years ago I found it was almost impossible to find replacements in the same color. I was recently super excited to get these brown booties (http://www.famousfootwear.com/en-US/Product/39696-1032409/LifeStride/Dk+Brown/Womens+Yowza.aspx) on a cyber Monday deal because I'd been looking for a nice pair of brown shoes for about 2 years!

  5. I used to wear tonnnns of dark brown, but I much prefer black and gray these days. I still wear my brown tights every once in a while, but most of the brown I wear now is cognac/camel... I love the brown tights with this dress, though!

  6. i rely heavily on my chocolate brown tights throughout the winter, but i think you're right... "cognac" really has taken over! i think a plain, true brown is just as versatile though. i love the print on your dress, and i think you could definitely continue to wear it as a tunic throughout your pregnancy! tall boots also help me feel like i'm not showing so much leg if i have a skirt/dress with a shorter hemline too!
