Navy Gingham and Tan, Take Two

Do you ever have an outfit where the color combination seems perfect, but then the outfit itself just kind of falls flat?  That's how I felt about this outfit back in December.  So I tried the navy/gingham/tan combo in a different outfit and I think it is much better!  Maybe just because I love dresses so much, or that you can see a little more of the gingham shirt?  I think the belt definitely helps.

Anyway, I like this one better than the other one.

Weather Talk

So, fake spring is happening right now.  It's those few days in January where it gets up into the 50s and we all think there is hope that winter will be over soon.  And then it's gets terribly cold again for about 2 more months.  At least, that's usually how it happens.  But I'm still grateful for fake spring, because it means I can get away with not wearing a coat for a few days.   And it means I got to take some pictures outside!  So, spoiler alert - you will get to see my backyard again in upcoming posts.

Copycat Day

Sometimes, I just have mornings where I have no idea what to wear.  This usually happens when I am so fed up with how cold it is and all I want to do is wear a sweatshirt and stay in bed.  On these days, I turn to Pinterest for help.  And sometimes I find something that isn't exactly rocket science, but it is perfect.  Like this.  And then I know what to wear for the day.

In other news, did you know that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!?  In a completely unprecedented move, I'm done with my Christmas shopping.  It's pretty exciting.  But I ordered almost everything online and shipped it to the recipients, so I think I only get to wrap about 2 presents.  I love wrapping presents, so I'm a little bummed.  But hooray for being all done and mostly avoiding crazy shopping crowds!

A Little Bit Country

Something about a tied shirt just makes me feel like a country girl.  I'm actually the opposite.  But I did read a lot of books when I was a kid about growing up on the prairie, so I am pretty good at playing Little House with my nieces.  It's just like when I was a kid - they make me be Pa, because I'm the tallest.  Totally unfair.  And it's pretty boring until tigers attack, and then things get crazy.  Imagination games are dangerous business.

Anyway, I'm linking up with Laura for Confident Twosday!

Victory in Gingham

After searching and complaining for almost a year, I finally found the perfect navy/white gingham shirt a few weeks ago.  I had gone to the J.Crew Factory with the intention of buying this one, but they didn't have my size.  I figured I would just order online, but then I saw it was back-ordered, and wouldn't ship until July.  Nope, not waiting that long!  Then I found this one at F21.  I'll be honest, I don't like the idea of being "plus size," but this shirt is exactly what I was looking for, and it fits like a J.Crew large, so I just have to suppress my irrational fear of plus-sized-ness.  Besides, no one else will know.  Oh wait, I just told the whole internet.  Oops...

Also, 2 quick stories about necklaces:

  1. It's hard to see, but I'm wearing the necklace that I won from Brynn's giveaway. My husband was like "cool antler necklace!" and I was like "it's not an antler! It's a tree branch!" but he doesn't believe me.
  2. The day I bought this shirt, I also bought a fun nautical necklace at F21.  It looks like this.  I can't find it anywhere.  I'm worried that it was still in the bag and got thrown away.  I mean, it was only $1.80, but I hope I find it!
Oh, and I don't really believe in April Fools Day, so all of the above stories are true.  And I will try not to believe anything that I hear today.
