Copycat Day

Sometimes, I just have mornings where I have no idea what to wear.  This usually happens when I am so fed up with how cold it is and all I want to do is wear a sweatshirt and stay in bed.  On these days, I turn to Pinterest for help.  And sometimes I find something that isn't exactly rocket science, but it is perfect.  Like this.  And then I know what to wear for the day.

In other news, did you know that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!?  In a completely unprecedented move, I'm done with my Christmas shopping.  It's pretty exciting.  But I ordered almost everything online and shipped it to the recipients, so I think I only get to wrap about 2 presents.  I love wrapping presents, so I'm a little bummed.  But hooray for being all done and mostly avoiding crazy shopping crowds!

That's a Green Coat!

If I had a nickel for every time someone said "That's a green coat!"  I would have about 25 cents.  Maybe 30.  I never know if they mean "wow, it's so cool that your coat is green!" or "You are a weirdo for wearing such a bright green coat!"  I just say "THANKS!"  and pretend they mean it is cool.

This outfit is inspired by this pin, but I don't have a gorgeous pink coat, so I went with another brightly colored coat.  Kate also put a spin on it by wearing her pink blazer.  It's a good reminder that when I see something I don't have, I probably have something pretty similar to make it work.

I actually really like the simplicity of the outfit without the coat, and then the coat adds a fun touch.  I just wish I had found my perfect gingham shirt!  J.Crew Factory is having 50% off in stores this weekend, so I might have to head to the outlet mall and see if they have this one.  I also have my eye on this one from Gap.  It's Friends and Family weekend, so it would be an extra 40% off.  The saga continues...

Anyway, back to my original point:  This is a green coat.  Next week is GREEN WEEK.  So gather up your grassy-hued items and put together an outfit to share!  Then be sure to check out my partners-in-crime:  Heather and Ashley.

Happy Weekend!  I hope it is spring wherever you live (unless you hate spring, in which case, I don't know if we can still be friends)!

#26 - Wear All the Neutrals

I've always liked bright colors, but lately I've been more open to wearing all neutrals  But like, ALL the neutrals.  I guess I left out navy in this outfit, but otherwise, I've pretty much covered the bases.

Neutral+Neutral +Neutral +Neutral +Leopard print = easy outfit!

They should really cover this in calculus!

#12 - Combat

Have any of you been to a BodyCombat class?  I think it's basically just kickboxing, but the Les Mills "official" version.   It was intense!  I'm not a particularly coordinated or aggressive person, so I wasn't sure how I would like it, but I'll definitely be going back.  After I have a few days to recover.  I just need to get my courage up to try all the other classes.

This outfit has nothing to do with working out, but until Old Navy decides to send me a bunch of free gear, I won't be posting sporty outfits.

#4 - Christmas Again

On Saturday, we celebrated Christmas/New Year's with John's family.  I went with the comfy/cozy outfit option.  After opening presents, we played games and ate yummy food.  And then we played more games.  And then we ate dessert.  And then played more games.  I mean, it was a great day!

Budgeting Blogger, Take 2

Take One, Pass It On Item:  tan scarf from last Tuesday's post

I'm linking up with Franish again this month for Budgeting Bloggers.  As I said at the end of January, I am trying to save up my shopping money so I have extra to spend when I go to Phoenix in April.  February was pretty successful in this regard.  I did get a couple dresses, but they were both very reasonably priced, and I am getting rid of several old dresses, so I have some room in my wardrobe.
  1. Limited Striped Dress:  $18 (originally $98)
  2. Kohl's dress (not online, but I found it here):  $6.40 (originally $64) - plus I had a gift card, so it was free.

Grand Total = $18

Pretty good, I guess!  I'm going to avoid shopping in March, too, and then I will probably go a little overboard in April, but the clothing budget rolls over from month to month, so it is OK!   I am also hoping to clear out quite a bit of my closet in March.  If I haven't worn it all winter, I will probably try to sell it or donate it!

Did you stick to your budget in February?

Winter White, Part 2

These pictures are from a few weeks ago, before this happened.  This was one of my winter white options for linking up with Bri, but I liked the other one better.

I don't have much else to say.  I hope the snow melts off our deck enough that I can take pictures out there again soon!  I don't know if I am brave enough to set up the tripod in the front yard!

Secretary

I felt very 1960's secretary-ish in this outfit.  I mean, a bow blouse and a pencil skirt kind of made me feel like I belonged on the set of Mad Men.  I was kind of a secretary for one summer in college, but I think it's more PC to say Administrative Assistant or something.  I was not a great secretary, mostly because I hated answering the phones (and I never got to wear a bow blouse!).  I just wanted to sort the files and be left alone.  It's kind of funny I ended up in a job where I talk on the phone all day.  At least I can wear ridiculous outfits at my current office!

In the Morning

Morning pictures might not be the best idea for me.  Sleepy eyes + wet hair = questionable photos.  But this might be better than indoor pictures at the end of the day.  It's so hard to be a fashion blogger when you have a full time job!

I just got this skirt from Target, for $10!  I'm not sure I would have tried it on, but I have seen Kyla wearing it recently in a few different colors (here and here) and thought it was cute on her, so I gave it a try and loved it!  It looks like a regular pencil skirt, but it is super stretchy, so it's super comfortable!   Winning!  Then I remembered that I just recently bought a blue pencil skirt, and wondered if I really needed another one.   Then I decided that they were different enough that it was okay.  So now you know what goes on in my mind when I am shopping.  I also kind of want this skirt in the "bluff green" color, but it isn't on sale online, and I don't really believe in spending $20 on a Target skirt.  I will have to keep my eye out on the sale racks when I go grocery shopping!
