Currently October

First Wednesday of the month means it is time to link up and share what we are currently up to.  Go check out In Residence and Gold and Bloom. to see the other participants!

eating - less.  I'm trying to get serious about losing weight, which means I'm logging all of my meals again.  It's annoying, but it works!

exploring - local parks.  Mr. Baby loves to be outside, so we go on walks as much as possible.  On the weekends, we've gone to parks with walking trails, and it's really fun.  Except for that time I got stung by a bee.  Not cool, nature.

wearing - mostly LeTote stuff. It's been fun to try new things.  I'm not sure how long I'll keep it, but I'm glad I've tried it!

admiring - Mr. Baby.  Seriously, I cannot even stand how cute he is.

collecting - um... I don't know. I'll be sappy and say memories!

And most importantly, today is my husband's birthday!  Happy Birthday!!

Waiting and Waiting

This outfit is from a couple weeks ago, but I guess I never posted it.  I don't have anything interesting to say today.  It's been a long week, as I not-so-patiently wait for baby to arrive.  Every day, I think "this would be a great day to have a birthday!" but he doesn't agree.

Anyway, happy Friday and happy weekend!  Be extra nice to your moms on Sunday, especially if you were born after your due date!

December

Welcome to December!  I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving!  We spent a few days with my family in Indiana.  It's so fun when we can get together with them!

I feel like I should start putting a "date worn" disclaimer on all my posts, since I'm so far behind.  Just for the record, I wore this on October 22.  Way back when I was a twenty-something.

Maroon & Leopard (again)

Apparently this dress just demands to be worn with leopard print.  I guess I don't have as many ideas about how to wear maroon.  I will have to get more creative, I guess.

Also, winter has finally arrived in the midwest!  After being spoiled in October, the beautiful fall days are pretty much over.  It even snowed on Monday night (womp womp).  I'm about 2-3 weeks behind on outfit photos, but just know that in real life, bare legs are going to be a rare occurrence for the next several months!

#18 - Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Monday!  Since Navy Week is over (but you can still link up until midnight!), here's a rare 30x30 outfit that doesn't actually feature anything navy.  Pretty sure it is the first one of the challenge so far.

Anyway, how about a little weekend update?

Friday evening, we went to a cookout for John's department.  We played croquet and I was terrible.  It seemed like it was going to rain all night, but never actually did.  And my hair grew fluffier and fluffier as the night progressed.

Saturday morning, I had a long overdue phone date with one of my sweet friends from high school.  It was so great to catch up with her.  I really need to prioritize keeping in touch with friends!  Then I spent the rest of the day doing random household chores - this pretty much happens every weekend if I don't want my house to spiral into a complete mess.  Saturday evening, we went over to John's parents' house for dinner and games.  We hadn't seen them in forever, so it was fun to catch up!

Sunday we had church, and then did more miscellaneous chores around the house in the afternoon.  After evening service, we had a Sunday school class get-together, which is always a good time.

All in all, it was a pretty good weekend - a nice mix of socializing and productivity.  How was your weekend?

Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend was pretty great!  It seems like weekends are always really busy, so I was kind of excited to have nothing on the agenda.  A free weekend gave me the opportunity to do a few things that I've been meaning to do for awhile, including (but not limited to):

  • Having some newer friends over for dinner Friday.
  • Giving myself a much-needed haircut.  It seems really short to me, but only one person noticed at church, so it's probably not obvious at all.  I mean, it's more like armpit length than elbow length.  My curls are so springy now!
  • Catching up on all the ironing, while watching several episodes of Once Upon a Time.  Such a fun show - why has no one told me to watch it?  Maybe it's terrible and I just have bad taste!
  • A much needed real date night.  I mean, I pretty much call it a date any time John and I go out to dinner.  But this was an official date.  We're talking dinner, mini-golf, fro-yo.  I'm a simple girl!

This outfit has nothing to do with the weekend.  I actually wore it to work last Monday.  I hope you are prepared to see these sandals quite a bit, because they will likely be a summer closet MVP.

Dress Week - Purple Pleats

For the grand finale of Dress Week, I'm wearing a dress with not one, but TWO shades of purple on it.  I know - it's out of control.  Make sure you check out everyone who linked up, especially my super awesome co-host Heidi!  You can still link up until Monday, so you have the whole weekend to get something together if you want!

It's been one of those weeks where Murphy's Law has been strong.  You know, whatever can go wrong, will go wrong.  Nothing huge, but these little things start to add up.  Spilled milk all over the car, broken washing machine, running out of clean clothes, accidentally punching myself in the face - you know, regular stuff.  I may have to hang out at the laundromat some this weekend.  Also the washing machine store.  I hope you have something more exciting planned!

Another Green Dress

I know, I know - Green week is over.  But I have way more than 5 green items, and getting them all out just made me want to wear them.  So here's another green dress.  I just wish things didn't get so wrinkled during the day.  Maybe I should get one of those standing desks?  But then I'd probably have to wear more comfortable shoes on a regular basis.  Standing all day in heels would not be comfortable.  So, I guess we'll just have to deal with the wrinkly skirts.

#26 - Wear All the Neutrals

I've always liked bright colors, but lately I've been more open to wearing all neutrals  But like, ALL the neutrals.  I guess I left out navy in this outfit, but otherwise, I've pretty much covered the bases.

Neutral+Neutral +Neutral +Neutral +Leopard print = easy outfit!

They should really cover this in calculus!

#5 - Sweaters on Sweaters

Here's a tip for surviving the POLAR VORTEX this winter.  Wear a sweater over a sweater!  I think wearing 2 thin sweaters is even warmer than wearing one bulky sweater.  Plus, you get very staticky and can see sparks when you remove your cardigan at the end of the day.  It's like FIREWORKS!  Or you may want to try rubbing a dryer sheet over both sweaters before you attempt to layer them. Use your best judgement.

Popular Pinterest Inspiration

I think every single blogger has worn some version of this outfit.  I actually wore this for what should have been day 16 of TOPIO (passing on the belt from day 15), but then I realized I had already passed along everything else in this outfit, so I changed my plan.

After wearing this, I bought a more "camel" colored cardigan, and some new cognac boots, so I'll probably be wearing a different version of this outfit before too long.

Linking up with Heather today for Pinned it& Did it!

Leopard Scarf Again

Yes, I'm wearing my leopard scarf again with a striped dress, but I just really love the way leopard and stripes look together.  Plus I think it's fun to show the versatility of this scarf, and how little things can change the feel of an outfit.  Switching out my cardigan for a denim jacket and changing my boots for pumps makes a big difference.

After feeling pretty terrible all weekend and most of Monday, I think I'm finally back to almost normal.  I can breathe through my nose again and don't have a constant headache, so I'm counting that as a win!

Just 48 hours until the Leopard Link-Up party happens!  Are you getting your posts ready to join in?  Make sure you keep up with Brynn to see what she is wearing this week.

Throwing Leaves

So many things to discuss today!
  • I'm passing along the cream boyfriend cardigan.  I bought it at The Limited on my birthday and want to wear it every day, so it just made sense.
  • Leopard week continues with this H&M scarf.
  • Halfway through the day, I changed my belt and shoes.  So, here's a little bonus outfit.  You'll be seeing more of these shoes later in the week.
  • When taking outfit pictures, John was very inspired by the leaves on the ground, so he started throwing them at me.  It was pretty awesome.  I had to make a collage:

Oh, and I'm starting a new weekly collage for TOPIO.  Mostly because iPiccy runs out of collage options between the ranges of 5-9.

Stripe Week - Sweater and Link-up

Stripes Week is coming to a close, but I'll probably have stripes on the blog most of next week, because I kind of over-prepared.  I could probably keep this going through the rest of the month, but I'd get tired of that (maybe).

Anyway... you guys!  FALL!  I mean, BOOTS and LAYERS!  There are even recently fallen leaves on my shoe in the first picture.  Seriously, though - it got kind of cold over the weekend, and we had all the windows in our house open.  I think it was about 50 degrees inside when we woke up on Saturday.  Not awesome.  But I did bust out the boots on Sunday.  And then it was 80 again on Monday.  I'm hoping we won't see snow until December.  Come on, Nebraska!

Guys and Ladies/Girls/Women

Have you all noticed there isn't a good female alternative for "guy"?  I mean, if I am talking about a male co-worker, I would say "this guy at work...", but if I am talking about a female co-worker, I'm stumped.  Woman?  Lady?  Girl?  Gal?  No, those all sound weird.  Is there a good alternative I am just forgetting?  These are the things I worry about.

In other news...

You guys, I finally found a leopard print scarf, and it was only $7!  I really wish there was an H&M in Omaha.  Although it might be trouble.  I also found these polka dot shoes on my shopping adventures in Arizona.  If you are wondering how many pairs of polka dot shoes a lady/woman/girl needs, the answer is at least 3 (exhibit A and B).
