Turquoise Dress

Since I'm retired for the moment, I don't wear my dresses as much.  But this one is pretty casual and comfortable, so I wore it to a meeting.  But then it was too hot for this cardigan and I needed pockets, so I changed into shorts and a tank top for lunch with some friends.  But I did wear this outfit for a couple hours at least!

Neglected Dress and Cantaloupe Baby

Oh hey, a neglected dress!  It's been quite awhile since this one made an appearance.  I think it was lost in the ironing pile for a few months.  It needed to be rescued!

And it's been a few weeks since I compared my child to produce, so I know you are all dying  for an update.  I have 2 apps, one says cantaloupe, the other says jicama.  Since I know what a cantaloupe is, we're sticking with that option.

Whenever I think of cantaloupe, my mind immediately goes to an episode of Saved by the Bell, when Screech is going to get married, and Mr. Belding says "Screech, you can't elope!" and Screech replies "Who are you calling a cantaloupe!?"  Just think about how many important things I have forgotten, and yet that stays.

And in the interest of being honest, here's a side view.  It's crazy how from the front view, I don't think I look pregnant at all in this outfit, but then I turn to the side and BAM! - giant cantaloupe baby!

Dress Week - Three in One

Get excited!  It's time for another theme week.  This time, we're featuring dresses.  My lovely co-host is Heidi from Literate & Stylish.  I'm starting off the week with a three-fer of iPhone mirror photos.  Because I do what I want!

These three outfits are from my work conference last week.  My hotel room didn't have any good location to build a makeshift tripod tower, so I just ended up doing iphone mirror selfies.  And I forgot to take a picture of my Tuesday daytime dress. (it was this one)

JCF jacket, Old Navy Dress, Chinese Laundry Belt, Sperry Shoes

First up, this is what I wore for traveling on Sunday.   It was comfortable but not too casual.  When I got to the conference, I traded my jacket and Sperrys for a navy cardigan and navy flats for the opening happy hour.  Then I switched back into this outfit for dinner with my team.

JCF cardigan, Gap Dress, NY&Co Belt, Old Navy Shoes
This was my Monday outfit.  I was in meetings all day and then took clients out to dinner, so I needed to have comfortable shoes, but still look polished.  Also the meeting rooms were like 60 degrees, so I was very happy to have a cardigan.

Gibson&Latimer Dress, NY&Co Belt, Old Navy Shoes
Tuesday evening was the finale dinner.  I kept it simple in this floral dress, which has been one of my favorites in the past year or so.  I did not have a cardigan to go with it, so I just froze.

Over 4 days in St. Louis, I barely went outside at all.  We were right by the arch, but I never had the time even walk over and see it properly.  I'm glad I have been there quite a few times, so I wasn't missing out on my only chance to see it!

Now it's your turn - link up your dresses below (after the jump).  I'll be sharing 4 more this week.  And make sure you check out Heidi's blog to see what she's wearing.   If you want to join in on Instagram or Twitter, you can just use #dressweek.

Also, go check out my guest post all about Summer Must-Haves on Work Clothes, I Suppose.  Spoiler alert - dresses are on the list!

Just Okay

This outfit is from a few weeks ago.  I don't love it.  I don't hate it, but it's just kind of blah.  I should have added a belt or something.  Plus these tights just make me look like my legs are kind of tan, and it's going to be very disappointing when I'm actually showing my knees and they are just slightly darker than the white wall behind me.

Winter is Here

Are you ready for more weather talk?  Because Nebraska got seriously cold last week.  When I wake up in the morning, I usually check the weather so I know how to dress accordingly.  When it says ZERO, I just want to give up and crawl back into bed.

On Saturday, I went on a returning spree at the outlet mall.  I didn't even buy anything new to replace the returns.  The parking lot was crazy, the lines were long, and I really wonder why anyone thinks it is a good idea to have an outdoor mall in Nebraska!  Put a roof on it!  Or better yet, one of those retractable roofs that they have on football stadiums.  That'd be pretty cool!

Leopard Scarf Again

Yes, I'm wearing my leopard scarf again with a striped dress, but I just really love the way leopard and stripes look together.  Plus I think it's fun to show the versatility of this scarf, and how little things can change the feel of an outfit.  Switching out my cardigan for a denim jacket and changing my boots for pumps makes a big difference.

After feeling pretty terrible all weekend and most of Monday, I think I'm finally back to almost normal.  I can breathe through my nose again and don't have a constant headache, so I'm counting that as a win!

Just 48 hours until the Leopard Link-Up party happens!  Are you getting your posts ready to join in?  Make sure you keep up with Brynn to see what she is wearing this week.

I'm Sorry

Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.

Here's a short list of things I am generally sorry about:

  • Sorry that my thinking face looks like I'm super angry
  • Sorry to anyone who ever sits directly behind me - my hair is big - good luck seeing anything
  • Sorry to anyone who sits on my left at dinner - I will probably hit you with my elbow
  • Sorry that I talk so loudly and probably can't hear you unless you are also a loud-talker
  • Sorry that I will order something very customized at most restaurants - I'm sure it confuses the staff and embarrasses everyone else at my table
I'm probably forgetting something, but I think I apologize many times a day.  I think I read (or probably saw it on Oprah) that women say "I'm sorry" more frequently than men do.  I don't know if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me.  Based on my observations and some discussions, I think women (or at least I) say "I'm sorry" whenever something bad happens (I'm sorry you got a flat tire), even if I'm not responsible for the bad thing.  It seems like men (again, I'm generalizing here) tend to say "I'm sorry" only in cases where they are really apologizing for something they did.  Has anyone else noticed this?

Also, this would be another perfect dress for the owner/manager of an awesome candy store (explanation here)
