Currently September

Let me just pick myself up off the floor after realizing September is here already.  Where did the summer even go?  I swear time has exponentially sped up since my baby was born (said every mom ever).  Anyway, it's time for the Currently link up with In Residence and Dearest Love

Reading: Baby books!  I'm having so much fun reading to the little man these days.  I know he doesn't quite have a clue what is going on yet, but he seems to enjoy it (or at least note hate it).  As far as grown up reading, I'm between books right now and not sure what to pick up next.  I'm on hold for several books at the library, so I don't want to start anything too long.

Making: piles of things to sell or donate.  I've got a serious case of "GET RID OF ALL THE THINGS!" so I'm trying to make wise decisions.

Pinning: venison recipes.  I'm trying to use up what we currently have in the freezer to make space.  Pretty exciting, I know.

Anticipating: a busy fall to follow our busy summer!  My mom is coming to visit later in September, and then October will be here, which means John's birthday, one of our best friend's weddings, and my birthday!  I just feel like Christmas will be here before we know it.

Loving: life!  I'm just so happy being a mom to such a sweet little guy.

Baby Shower Baby

If you want to be a not very helpful baby shower planner, try having a baby one month before the party.  Not that I know from experience.  Okay, I do.  This past weekend, we had a baby shower for one of my best friends.  I "helped" plan it, but I'm fairly certain I did about 1% as much work as the other hostesses (and they did an awesome job!).  My kiddo was the only man at the baby shower, so I think he felt kind of awkward, but he was pretty happy the whole time, and he got to meet some more of my friends, so that was exciting.  Brooke is due in July, and we are pretty excited about making our babies be best friends.

Anyway, this is what I wore.  It's kind of tricky getting dressed these days, because I don't have time to try on a million things, and I have no idea what will fit, and how it will fit.  So I kept it simple with a black and white skirt and a looser top.  I felt good and was comfortable, but I wish this skirt had pockets.  Or I wish I had about 4 extra arms.

Happy Post-Christmas Day!

Happy day after Christmas!  I hope everyone had a great day.  If I had to guess, I bet I had a pretty good day.  But I'm writing this a few days early, because we are spending the week in New Mexico, so I don't really know!

I think this is the last time you'll see these jeans for awhile.  The belly band trick just isn't going to cut it anymore.  Hopefully I can fit into them again next fall/winter.  And hopefully red skinny jeans are still acceptable.  Wait, are red skinny jeans even still acceptable now?  I mean, I like them, so I guess I don't really care!

I'll be getting back home this weekend, so hopefully I will be able to share a Christmas week wrapup soon!

Blazer Week - Pink or Sangria?

Happy Blazer Week!  I'm so excited to have Danielle as my co-host this month.  Be sure to check out her blog each day to see how she's styling her blazers this week.

I'm also a little bit sad because Marisa and Heidi are doing their Pantone-Inspired Color challenge this week and I usually love jumping in on that, but most of my blazer outfits don't really align with the colors!  I'm going to try to do what I can, but it might be a long shot!

I'm pretending this blazer applies to the Sangria color for today.  Normally, I'd think of sangria as a darker pinkish-red, but the Pantone example looks pretty pink, so I'll say this blazer counts, okay?

I met John for lunch on the day I wore this outfit.  When we sat down at our table, he exclaimed with horror "Are you wearing a VEST?" and I was like, "No, this is a blazer.  Vests don't have sleeves" but he meant under the blazer.  "No, this is just a blouse.  Vests aren't sewn shut in the front middle."  And I mean, what's the problem with vests anyway?

And I feel I must explain that these pictures are from a couple weeks ago.  We now have several inches of snow on the ground, and my weather app is telling me things like "Feels like -2," so I can't get away with just a blazer as my outerwear.  Good thing I pre-planned for this week!

Anyway, link up below!
