Something Something Friday

As I write this post (Thursday night), I'm just exhausted and unable to think of anything clever to say.   I just got home from my first baby shower (so amazing!  More on that later), and am just overwhelmed with all the wonderful people I work with, and the thoughtful gifts they got for me and the baby.  I think I took about 2 pictures all night because I was just caught up in the moments, so I hope I can steal some pictures from my co-worker who was playing photographer.

Anyway, here's an outfit I wore recently.  I liked it in real life, but I don't like it as much in pictures.  I mean, it's okay, but I think the blazer looks too small (which it is right now), but as I was wearing it, I thought it just looked normal/unbuttoned.  And I think/hope this will be the last time I wear boots for the next several months! Come on, spring - stick around!

Have a happy weekend!  I'll probably just be sorting and staring at all the baby stuff I just got!

Wearing the Pants

After almost buying regular pixie pants from Old Navy several times in the past couple years, I finally took the plunge on a maternity version.  It's been too cold for skirts/tights many days and I've been getting tired of wearing jeans, so I thought a pair of black pants would be a good investment.   And I haven't had a pair of non-jean pants in several years, so this is an adjustment.  But I think it's a good thing.

While I was shopping online, I added a few things to my cart to get free shipping, like this tunic top!  I really like it, and there seems to be a lot of room for the baby to grow, so I hope it continues to fit for the next 4 months!  Maternity clothes are the weirdest thing!

Blazer Week - Pink or Sangria?

Happy Blazer Week!  I'm so excited to have Danielle as my co-host this month.  Be sure to check out her blog each day to see how she's styling her blazers this week.

I'm also a little bit sad because Marisa and Heidi are doing their Pantone-Inspired Color challenge this week and I usually love jumping in on that, but most of my blazer outfits don't really align with the colors!  I'm going to try to do what I can, but it might be a long shot!

I'm pretending this blazer applies to the Sangria color for today.  Normally, I'd think of sangria as a darker pinkish-red, but the Pantone example looks pretty pink, so I'll say this blazer counts, okay?

I met John for lunch on the day I wore this outfit.  When we sat down at our table, he exclaimed with horror "Are you wearing a VEST?" and I was like, "No, this is a blazer.  Vests don't have sleeves" but he meant under the blazer.  "No, this is just a blouse.  Vests aren't sewn shut in the front middle."  And I mean, what's the problem with vests anyway?

And I feel I must explain that these pictures are from a couple weeks ago.  We now have several inches of snow on the ground, and my weather app is telling me things like "Feels like -2," so I can't get away with just a blazer as my outerwear.  Good thing I pre-planned for this week!

Graphic Tee Week - 30!!!

It's my BIRTHDAY!!  And I'm 30?  What?  So strange.  I'm not really worried about getting older, but it just doesn't feel like I can be 30 already.  Didn't I just turn 18 like five minutes ago???  I'm taking the afternoon off work and getting a much needed massage and pedicure, and then looking forward to a fun weekend of celebrating!

When I decided to do Graphic Tee week, this was the first outfit that I thought of.  I just love this tee (another of the $2.50 deals from Gap). So I wore it and loved it and saved it for my birthday post and graphic tee week finale!

Anyway, thanks to everyone that linked up!  You can still join in until Monday.  Make sure to check out all the other links and make some new friends.  Especially Priya, who totally killed it as my co-host this week!

Currently October

It's October 1st, which is just completely ridiculous.  How are we 3/4 through the year?  I'm joining in on the Currently game again this month, with Anne.  But the topics are tricky for me this time.  So,
Smelling - I'm not smelling anything at the moment.  I should probably light a candle or something.

Loving - the weather!  It's still been fairly warm.  I love this time of year when I can just wear a cardigan or light jacket and be comfortable!

Planning - well, I should be planning something for John's birthday, but we always wait until the last minute to decide things.  I do have his presents purchased, so that's good.

Baking - um, I'm not baking anything right now.  I'll probably bake a cake next week.

Celebrating - BIRTHDAY MONTH!!  October kicks off 3 months of fun stuff.  John's birthday, my birthday, and then Thanksgiving and then Christmas!  And then basically 3 months of winter doom.  But at least we get to have fun before January arrives.

I hope others have better answers.  Although, if you are baking something, you are probably smelling the same thing, so that would be an easy way to get 2 answers.  I should probably whip up some cookies and then re-answer those.  But then again, no.  Boring answers will have to suffice.

#21- Wind Machine

When taking outfit photos, I usually forget my wind machine.  But some days, when I'm taking frantic photos on the side of Kohl's so I can grab a quick dinner of champions at Chick-fil-A before taking care of the 2-year-olds at church, the wind decides to show up.  And the reflection of my pink blazer on my face makes it look like I'm wearing blush.  No need to spend extra time on make-up!  Just wear bright colors!

I'm so excited that Bri picked a Third Thursday Threads theme that fell into the rules of my 30x30.  LBD for the win!  Go check out the other looks here.

And please take my survey if you haven't yet!

#13 - Navy Week - Striped Skirt

Hey, it's the confetti shirt again, because GUESS WHAT?  Some of the dots are navy, so it goes with this navy/cobalt striped skirt.  I just really love clothes with so many different colors, because they pretty much go with everything.

And I'm still pretty excited about this pink blazer.  It's not getting much play in the remix, because layers are not needed when the weather is consistently in the 90s.  Good thing I don't believe in "fall colors," so I will be wearing this a lot when it starts to cool down.  And no, I'm not part of the blogger coalition that is anxiously awaiting fall.  Let's keep summer around for awhile longer, okay?

Shorts Week - Pseudo-Professional

Shorts Week is here!  As I mentioned on Thursday, I really like wearing shorts.  I'm very happy that I work in an office with a pretty casual dress code, so I can get away with wearing shorts to work sometimes.  My own personal comfort level means I usually try to dress them up.  A ponte knit blazer is one way to fancify shorts a little bit.

This particular blazer is a new addition to my closet.  I've had a pink blazer on my list forever, and haven't been able to find the perfect one at the perfect price.  I had my eye on this H&M option online, but they never had my size available to order.  A couple weeks ago, I was taking some summer items to the consignment shop when I spotted this beauty.  It's exactly what I had in mind, and for just $12, I was sold.

So, can you wear shorts to work?  If so, how do you try to dress them up?  Any shorts suit wearers out there?  Whatever shorts outfits you might wear, link up below and make sure to check out Ginny's blog this week!
