#24 - Mostly Repeat

Here's an outfit that I wore at the very beginning of the challenge (during the Des Moines weekend), but I didn't take official pictures.  I really liked it, so I wore it again and just added a cardigan for my cold office.

#17 - Lady Plume

For the majority of my life, I have had one hairstyle - parted in the middle, long, air-dried curls.  Recently, I've been pinning the middle back like in these pictures, just for something a little different.  John calls this hairstyle "Lady Plume." I searched on Pinterest to see if this is really a plume hairstyle, and it's really not.  Maybe if I added a feather.  But then I'd probably get even more Pocahontas comments.

Posting every day for the 30x30 really has me throwing out some weird stories, huh?

Dress Week - Summer Essentials

It's Third Thursday Threads day!!  Again, it's working out that my theme weeks play nicely with Bri's themes.  And we had a little ESP(n) going this month, because I sent her a guest post all about Summer Must-Haves before I saw the TTT theme.  Great minds, I tell ya!

So here's a pretty typical summer outfit for me:  light dress + bright colored cardigan + belt + comfortable shoes.

That's a formula for easy summer style.  Plus, this dress is famous!  It was on the season 2 finale of New Girl!  I wish that Zooey Deschanel had been wearing it (that would be cooler), but it was just Schmidt's girlfriend.  Anyone else get excited when their clothes are on TV?

Dress Week is still going strong!  Linkup below!

Weekend Wrap-Up

For some reason, I don't get a day off for Presidents' Day!  I mean, government offices are all closed, so why do other companies stay open?  OUTRAGE!  Mostly kidding, although I wouldn't complain if my company added some more paid holidays to the calendar.  We are in that stretch after the holidays where we have to go to work every day for like 5 months straight.  Ridiculous.  Memorial Day needs to hurry up!

Anyway, at least we have weekends!  This weekend was pretty great (and low key).  Friday night, we just grilled steaks and had a nice dinner at home.  Saturday, we went to see The Monuments Men (Hint - it's not very good!).  Sunday was church, relaxing, and then a very fun hangout in the evening with church friends.  Pretty much any blank spaces in the weekend were spent sleeping, reading, blogging, or doing laundry.  Weekend of champions, I tell ya!

Oh, and this outfit is from mid-December.  It's another good example of wearing summer clothes in the winter!  Step 1 - add a cozy wool cardigan.  Step 2 - tights and boots.

Longest Short Week EVER (and a theme for next week)

Is it just me, or has this 4-day work week been dragging on?  I'm so ready for the weekend!

Without realizing it, I wore polka dots almost every day this week.  Since I post my outfits about a week after wearing them, I decided that next week will be a theme week for the blog!  Polka dots every day!  It's very exciting, I promise!

Sooo... would you all be interested in a little linkup next Friday to share your favorite polka dot outfits?  Let me know!

I'm also linking up with Casual Friday  and Favorite Fashion Friday today!

Sandal Problems

Sometimes, certain clothing items are just not meant to be in my wardrobe.  Like these sandals.  I bought them last August in New Mexico, because they were $4, and they were super cute.  Since it was the end of summer, I didn't wear them very many times.  This year, I've tried to wear them on a few occasions and changed my mind before I left the house.  Something was off, and they weren't very uncomfortable.  My mother-in-law has the same sandals, and she just cut off the back strap, so I thought I'd try it, too.  I like the look of them, but the strap removal just made them more uncomfortable.  Honestly, I think the arches in my feet are just too high for this type of sandal.  Before I even went into work, I change into these wedges that were in my car from the previous day. Good thing they matched my outfit!  I'm sad to say that I am breaking up with the Target sandals for good.

I'm jumping in on Sarah's "Pin to Real Life" challenge today.  When I saw Chelsea's outfit, I was excited because I have the same dress!  I thought I'd try the monochromatic look, so I added my blue shoes, belt, and purse.
