Root Root Root for the Cardinals

After a loss on Saturday, we were pretty excited to see them win on Sunday afternoon.  Again, it was a beautiful day for baseball.  We had great seats and were actually in the shade for most of the game!

I'm pretty much the only adult woman who keeps a scorecard during the game.  It helps me pay attention!

*and now you know how terrible my handwriting is!

I got a little worried in the 6th inning, but the Cards stepped up and took care of business for the win!

Happy with the win!
Now I just hope they can get back on track for the postseason!  Another World Series would sure be fun!

Meet Me in St. Louie

As I mentioned yesterday, John and I drove to St. Louis for the weekend, to meet up with my dad and go to a couple baseball games.  This is sort of a neglected tradition, so I was pretty excited that it worked out this year.  Back in 1998, my dad took my brother to St. Louis for a few games.  Middle school Andi was not cool with being left out.  The following year, my dad took me, and then it somehow turned into an annual tradition for the two of us.  I think we saw the Cardinals play every summer from 1999 until 2006.  We were able to catch them in Kansas City in 2008, but otherwise, the summers have just been too busy and we haven't had a good opportunity.  It was awesome to be back in St. Louis, and even more fun that John got to come.  Going to games with my dad is a favorite memory for me, so it was really cool to bring John into the tradition.  Plus we were able to stay with our dear friends who always hosted us back in the day!  It was so great to catch up with them and introduce them to John.  (and their kids are totally teenagers, which makes me feel old!)

Anyway, we spent Saturday afternoon at the botanical garden (but that's a whole lot of pictures, so I'll save it for another post), and then headed downtown for the game.  I wanted to go up into the Arch, but the lines were long so we skipped it.  We just went into the museum and walked around for a bit.
I just had to take a picture of the bear for Kate
And this buffalo was just standing there, so I had to get a pic with him, too
After mostly just taking ridiculous pictures at the museum, we grabbed some dinner at Imo's Pizza and then headed to the stadium.

It was a beautiful evening and a pretty exciting game (including 2 home runs by Matt Holliday), but the Cardinals totally blew it at the end and let the Cubs win.  So disappointing!  I'm also bummed because I forgot to get a picture of us being sad that they lost.  I was looking through my old pictures and found these ones that just make me laugh.
2006 - in Chicago
2008 - in KC
But don't despair!  They won on Sunday, so our sadness was short-lived.

Last day in Montana (featuring goats!)

On our last day in Montana (before the 2 day drive home), we packed up our stuff and ventured through the park on the Going to the Sun road.  It's a gorgeous drive, so there was a lot to look at along the way.  We stopped near the middle of the park to do a little hike up to the Hidden Lake Overlook.  This is apparently a very popular hangout spot for mountain goats, because we saw several.  These goats are not at all concerned with humans, so they were sitting right by the trail, or walking along next to us.

After the hike, we made the rest of the trip across the park, checked out Lake McDonald, and then started our trek back to Nebraska.

Overall, it was a great trip!  Driving for about 45 hours total was ridiculous, but good company made it bearable (and even fun!).  Glacier National Park was gorgeous, and we had amazing weather.  I'd really recommend going there if you ever have the opportunity!

So, where should my next vacation be?  I've completely depleted my PTO, so I better let it build back up for a few months!

Montana - Day 1

After driving for 2 days straight, we finally reached our destination in St. Mary, MT.  We stopped at the Glacier National Park Visitor's Center, and then did a little hike on our own.  In the afternoon, we went on a boat ride across the lake and then did another short hike up to St. Mary Falls.  Prepare for a few too many pictures!

So that was pretty much Day 1!  After the boat/hike, we got checked in at the cabin, and grabbed some dinner.  Then we saw an amazing moon-rise!

Day 2 involved the guys going on a really long hike while I was as lazy as possible, so I don't really have any pictures to share.  I was just reading by the pool most of the day.  Perfection!

Cruisin'

Monday was another boat day, but it was starting to get warmer!  I still didn't get in the pool, but I at least put my swimsuit on!  It was another lazy day of reading and watching the ocean go by.  In the evening, there was a pretty epic sunset.  I resisted the temptation to add 15+ sunset pictures here!

Our favorite spot at the back of the boat

We did dress up for dinner, but forgot to take proper photos.  Sometimes, you just have to enjoy life and not try to document everything, right?  A good reminder for all of us bloggers!

On a Boat

On Sunday, we were just on the boat, which is actually pretty nice, because we just got to be lazy!  The above picture shows my view for most of the day.  Again, it wasn't as warm as I expected it to be, so I kept my sweatshirt on most of the time, and used my towel as a blanket, but I mean, look at that ocean!

When we got tired of being lazy, we ventured up to the mini-golf course and played a few rounds.  Putting is much more complicated when the green moves.

Sunday was also the first formal night, so we got to dress up a little more.

This is the dress I mentioned in my February goals review.  I changed it from a halter top to just having normal straps.  (Not that you can tell, because my hair pretty much covers the straps!)
