Shorts Week - Pink and Camo




This outfit is from Saturday.  John and I went to dinner at my favorite BBQ place and just ate way too much food.  We were heading home to probably watch Bones all night, when I suggested that we should walk around the lake instead.  This is about as outdoorsy as I get.  The weather was perfect, with a light breeze to keep the mosquitoes away.  There were about a million geese blocking the path, which made me kind of nervous.  They could attack at any moment!  But we made it safely through the geese gauntlet and continued on our way.  We even saw a deer!  It was pretty cool.

There are some fancy houses that back up to the lake/trail area, and we got to overhear a pretty rocking birthday party with a live band.  After our walk, we drove around the neighborhood looking for the party (is that creepy?), and stumbled upon the signs for valet parking.  So, if you have valet parking at your house birthday party - you might be rich.  Just a free tip.

Anyway, shorts week is almost over.  I promise my post tomorrow will not feature stripes.

Junkstock (aka Not Festival Style, Pt 2)


Have you ever heard of Junkstock?  Well, I hadn't until I was invited to go with a group of friends on Saturday.  It's basically a little antique festival in a field.  I'm not super into antiques, but it was still fun to hang out with friends and look around at all the crazy stuff.  It's amazing to me how much they charge for stuff that I could have just scavenged from my grandpa's farm 15 years ago.  But that was before Pinterest taught us all how to do crazy DIY projects and decorate our homes with refashioned junk.  Here are some random things I took pictures of:

My new arrow tattoo.  Just kidding - it's the entry stamp!  A silver tea set.  Kansas earrings that I probably would have bought if I didn't have sensitive ears.  And a Hershey cocoa tin robot, because obviously.  

    
I was very tempted to buy the Mrs. & Smith pendants.  They are from an old friendship quilt, but were $20 each.  Too expensive.  Buckets with numbers on them!  Charming Bible stories - I am curious how they are different from regular Bible stories.  And tea light candle towers that I think I could probably manage to make myself!  Maybe someday...

I only bought 2 things:  a bottle of water and a sno cone.  Because I have priorities!

Oh, and I even remembered to get an outfit photo by the windmill!  Very simple outfit for trekking around the antique shops.  I should have worn older shoes, because it was super muddy!  My Chucks have a little more character now.  



I'm afraid the background of this picture just reinforces all the stereotypes about Nebraska.  I promise I really do live in a city!

One Piece Many Ways - Polka Dot Cardigan




Happy Tuesday!  I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend.  I really think every weekend should be 3 days (or 4, or maybe 7).  Anyway, Audrey is hosting another One Piece Many Ways Linkup, and I love any excuse to put together a remix, so here we go!

After months of neglect, I recently found my polka dot cardigan at the bottom of my sweater drawer.  I love this cardigan!  It just adds a bit of whimsy to any outfit.  I bought it about a year ago, and actually paid full price ($20), which I very rarely do, because I knew it would be a frequently worn item.  I was right!  So here is One Piece TWELVE ways!

Paisley Cardigan - 3 Ways!


I'm doing my Friday remix post a little different this week.  Instead of  scanning through my archives for all the ways I've worn a certain item, I'm bringing you THREE BRAND NEW OUTFITS!  Imagine I said that in the echoey movie announcer voice.  It will seem more exciting.

This cardigan is a recent purchase from Loft.  Anytime I buy something and want to wear it EVERY DAY, I know it was a good decision.  Anyway, here are 3 ways I've worn it in the past couple of weeks.

Root Root Root for the Cardinals



After a loss on Saturday, we were pretty excited to see them win on Sunday afternoon.  Again, it was a beautiful day for baseball.  We had great seats and were actually in the shade for most of the game!

I'm pretty much the only adult woman who keeps a scorecard during the game.  It helps me pay attention!  

*and now you know how terrible my handwriting is!

I got a little worried in the 6th inning, but the Cards stepped up and took care of business for the win!  


Happy with the win!
Now I just hope they can get back on track for the postseason!  Another World Series would sure be fun!

Canada Day!


Since Canada was only a short drive from where we were staying, we decided to venture up there for one day.  This was probably my favorite day (even more favorite than reading by the pool!).  More pictures, with captions as needed.

Reunion Weekend Recap

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  As I mentioned on Friday, John and I headed down to Wichita for my high school 10 year reunion.  It was a quick trip down and back, but it was a blast to see everyone and catch up with old friends.  Saturday morning, I met up with 3 of my best friends from high school to catch up before the official reunion.  I've been friends with these girls since 2nd, 5th, and 9th grade and am so blessed to have them in my life!

Then John and I met up with my aunt and uncle for lunch and got to catch up with them a little bit.  And then we did some really important things, like going to Heavenly Sno to get the world's best sno cone. 

The reunion started out at the school, where we had a BBQ feast (which was delicious) and got to see all the additions they have made to the building.  When I was there, we basically had one hallway, the commons and the gym.  They now have a whole new wing with an auditorium and another gym.  It's sort of crazy.  After that, we went to the Fox&Hound for more hanging out and chatting.  I'm not the most objective opinion (since I helped plan it), but I think the evening was a great success!  

I mostly got caught up in chatting with everyone and forgot to take pictures, but I did get one with another of my favorite people - Tessa!  We hadn't seen each other since 2008, which is just way too long.  We are now scheming ways to see each other more often.  A road trip to Wisconsin might need to happen soon.  


And here's one of (almost) the whole group at the reunion.  Pay no attention to the pool table obstructing half of the group.  When you are in a restaurant/bar party room, you just have to make it work.


In a complete fashion blogger fail, I didn't take any official outfit photos.  You can kind of tell that I was wearing my pink shorts and lace top.

It was so great to catch up with everyone and meet the spouses!  I may be biased, but I think my graduating class is pretty great!  Did you (or will you) go to your high school reunion?
