#15 - Navy Week - Floral Top
Navy Week is coming to a close, but never fear! My 30x30 continues, and most of my outfits for the rest of August will have navy in them. And you can still link up with me or Kate until Monday. Be sure to check out all the links and visit each other! It's a great way to find new blogs to read.
I kicked off Navy Week with a floral skirt, and I'm finishing it out with a floral top. I really love this print from Target last summer. I know quite a few bloggers had the skirt, which I wanted but never saw. I really like the top, but it's starting to get a little faded, so I'm thinking it might need to be retired after this summer. I hate it when my favorite items start to wear out!
Anyway, happy weekend! And happy midpoint of the 30X30. In real life, I'm wearing my final outfit today, so I'm officially done!

#3 - Florals, and Ruffles, and Stripes (oh my)
I'm on the fence about this outfit. I felt kind of weird all day, but I like it in the pictures. It was perfect for the super hot and humid day I wore it, though. Except for when I was at work, so about 90% of the time I was wearing it. See, I recently moved offices, and now the A/C vent is on the floor just to my right. So my left side is usually comfortable, while my right side is freezing. I should probably invest in some one-shouldered sweaters.

Floral Week - Ruffle Tank Top
Well, I started the week with a top and I'm ending the week with a top. I know quite a few of my favorite bloggers have this print in the skirt version, but I never found it. I do love the ruffly tank top, so it's all good!
It has been a wild and crazy week with my sister and nieces in town. Yesterday, we went on a bit of a shopping spree at the outlet mall. I may have purchased some floral flats at J.Crew Factory. I may have been slightly under the influence of Floral Theme week, but they are super cute and I think I'll wear them quite a bit this spring/summer!
Thanks to everyone who linked up this week. The linky stays live until Monday, so you still have time if you want to jump in!

Polka Dot Week - Jeans
Welcome to POLKA DOT WEEK! After unintentionally wearing polka dots almost every day last week, it just made sense to make a little theme week on the blog. Polka dots are awesome. If you disagree, just leave now. (I'm kidding. You can stay, but you might not want to.)
Polka dots have really taken off in the last few years, and this is one trend I am totally on board with. Kim recently posted about being boring or being trendy and it got me thinking. After writing a really long comment on her post, I realized polka dots are an example of a trend that isn't really trendy as much as it is a classic pattern that comes and goes in popularity. I've always loved polka dots, but rarely found polka dotted items in stores. I bought this skirt about 15 years ago, even though no one else I knew was wearing polka dots at the time. I just liked it. Now polka dots are everywhere, and my closet reflects that availability.
These jeans were a Labor Day sale purchase from Limited. Printed denim is definitely a current trend. I don't think I will still be wearing these jeans in 15 years, but you never know!
Stay tuned this week for more outfits made up of polka dots, and get ready for Friday, where you can link up your favorite polka dot styles!

On the Radio
From 2002 until 2011, I didn't listen to the radio very much. I was all set with my iPod and my car mp3 player, so the radio was just not necessary. Then some total jerks decided to break into my car and rip my stereo out, and I really hope they felt stupid when they tried to pawn it and only got about $5 because it was SO OLD. But I digress...
For the past 2 years or so, I've been listening to the radio every day to and from work, and wherever else I might drive. Over these years, I've noticed a few things about the radio that are just very strange. As a blogger, I am pretty much an expert at sharing my opinion about frivolous things, so here we go!
- Modern hit music. Define "modern" please. I think if you are going to describe your station as new/modern, you should play mostly songs from this year, or at least the last couple years. One station in town frequently has their little jingle for new music and then plays something that I remember listening to in high school. It's been 10 years, okay. That's not new.
- No Repeat Workday! - this applies to those 80s-now stations. Shouldn't they have no repeats for several weeks? I'm making some general assumptions here, but say they are playing music from the last 35 years, and say they stick to only the 100 top songs from each year. That gives them 3,500 songs to play. I have it on good authority (Google search), that most radio stations play between 200-300 songs in a day. This means that I shouldn't hear the same song more than every 2 weeks. Sure, current hits will get more play, which means I REALLY shouldn't hear the same Pat Benatar song every day on my drive to work.
- Delilah - I don't understand where they find these people who call in (sorry if you are one of these people). I recently heard a guy who wanted to dedicate a song to his friend, who he had asked on a date, and she's been avoiding him ever since then. Delilah played "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls, which includes the line "do you wanna get married?" I bet the guy's lady friend is completely freaked out if she was listening. I also wonder if they just play the same "callers" over and over again. I'm sure no one would notice.
- Certain Artists - I know everyone has their own opinion, but can anyone explain to me why Katy Perry and Bruno Mars are so popular? Katy Perry's voice is so irritating - I can't change the station fast enough when her songs come on. Bruno Mars has a decent voice, but all of his songs just sound like bad leftovers from the 80s. Am I alone here? They get played all the time, so I assume most people like their stuff.

VBS Week
Vacation Bible School is happening this week at my church. John and I are teaching the "Pre-K" class which is mostly 4 and 5 year old kids. We have a pretty good group of kids, but they sure keep us busy! After taking last week off work to hang out with my family, I'm trying to get caught up at work during the day, and then spending the evenings at church. It's a lot of fun, but I wish I'd had a few days to catch my breath between the visitors and the VBS. I'll probably sleep all day on Saturday!

Ten Years
My high school reunion is this weekend. I really can't believe it has been 10 years! One of my best friends was Senior class president, and somehow I promised her that I would help her plan the reunions, so she and I have been busy gathering everyone's contact information and planning the event. I'm really hoping everything goes well! (If not, I will deny my involvement in the planning)
Honestly, I am super excited to see everyone! I wasn't sure how many people would actually come, but most of my favorite people from high school will be there. I had a dream the other night that we were at the reunion and I was so excited that John locked me in one of the classrooms to calm down. I mean, I hope that doesn't happen. I'm not THAT crazy, right?
Many things have changed in my life over the past 10 years, but 2 things have stayed the same:
- My car - my parents bought a 1997 Honda Civic for me in 2002, thinking it would last me through college. Well, I'm still driving it. I'm way too sentimental about this car, and will likely drive it until it stops running.
- My Hairstyle - since my hair isn't every particularly trendy, I think it's okay that I have the same style 10 years later, right? I even use the same mousse. I've tried other products, but just don't like anything as much as Pantene!
Do you have any exciting weekend plans? Or any fun stories about high school class reunions?
I'm linking up for Casual Friday today!

May Goals Review
I'm sorry, but where did May go? It really flew by, but I think I say that every month. I'm really starting to resent my 5 months ago self for saying I would do monthly goal review posts. It's not always fun to confess my failures each month. Let's get to it, I guess:
- Do a project, mostly sewing - Yep, I did a sewing project this month! Memorial Day is the secret of my success. I even have a post written up about my re-fashion project scheduled for this week!
- Work out 3x a week - probably not so much. The first half of the month was busy with graduation stuff and family in town. The rest of the month I have just been
un-motivatedlazy. I think I've gone to Zumba class every Monday, and maybe gone to the gym a couple more times total this month. (Ugly truth - I weighed myself for the first time in awhile and it is not good. I need to get serious about losing some weight!) - Tackle a project around the house - serious sorting and decluttering is happening! We pulled everything out of the storage closet and took a carload of stuff to Goodwill. I've sorted through a few more dresser drawers and 2 more bags to donate. And I finally am getting rid of some of my old formal dresses from high school! They are being sold at my in-laws garage sale this weekend, so hopefully I get some more shopping money!
- Cook a "real" meal at least 3 days each week - this is still my worst one. In my defense, I didn't need to cook for the first 2 weeks of May, because we were so busy with family stuff and eating out or at John's parents' house. Then we had leftovers from the graduation party. I think I've made a few legitimate meals in the last couple weeks, but I honestly don't remember.
- Stick to a clothing budget - success!
- Read 50 books. I'm still on track for the year with 20 so far. I read 4 books in May, which is pretty good considering all the graduation/family stuff we had going on.
I mean, I succeeded at 4 of 6, but I still feel like a failure this month. Probably because my top priority should be working out regularly. I'm hoping to get on track in June, but I'll be honest, the summer is going to be crazy busy!
It's also the last day of the "We Love Target" party with Whitney and Heidi. Today's topic is "Favorite Score," which is really hard to pick. I went with this floral top, because it's one of my recent favorite buys. Plus I was excited to wear my new Gap blazer!

Halfway There
It's Wednesday, so we are halfway through the work week, YAY! It's also April 24th, which means I am halfway between birthdays. Which means I'm turning 30 in 18 months. So, that's sort of crazy.
