Neglected Paisley Skirt

This skirt was near the top of the list of things I've been neglecting that I still really like and want to keep.  Granted, I'm sentimental about it.  I bought the dress when John and I were engaged, wore it to my bachelorette party, on our honeymoon, and several other picture-taking occasions during the first couple years of marriage.  I just really loved it.  And then I turned it into a skirt, because the top didn't really fit anymore, but I couldn't bear to part with it.  I still love it, but the purplish-blue color in it makes it tricky for me to style.

I was going to wear it with my black sweater and black blazer, and this mint necklace, but then I switched out the sweater for this ruffly maternity tank top, and then I thought the blazer looked weird, so I went with a cardigan instead.  I've been doing that a lot lately - I think because my body isn't shaped the way I think it is, so things don't fit as expected anymore.  (Hashtag - pregnancy problems)

Cardigan: Gap
Necklace: Limited
Top: Kohl's Maternity

  1. I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who makes last minute changes! I like how this turned out, and when your body is shaped the way you think it is, you can try the sweater/blazer combo!

  2. I think that making little changes when you are executing an outfit is the sign of someone who knows how to dress themselves! You don't just stick with an idea, you make it work!

  3. I agree with Whitney; if something doesn't work as planned, it's best not to force it. I think you made the right decision here.

  4. I did some last minute outfit changes this week too--sometimes pieces don't fit me as I expect either, but I'm not even pregnant! I really like the way this turned out!

  5. THE LITTLE IRON! I love the colors you've got going on here. And I feel ya on the things not fitting the way you're used to. Since it's really been too cold to wear anything other than pants, I had to make a desperate run to Gap last night to get some maternity jeans. Man, they had so much stuff on clearance. I'm proud of my self control ;)

  6. I'm always making little adjustments to an outfit I have planned too. I think sometimes my body isn't shaped like I think it is, and I'm not even pregnant haha. I really like how the mint necklace pulls the whole outfit together!
