Black and White (and Neon)

Take One, Pass It On Item:  booties from Friday's post (and boyfriend shirt, which I didn't even realize!  I should get some bonus points for that!)

**I'm also linking up with Marion for the trend of the month!

I very rarely wear all neutrals, but I was really going to try for this link-up.  I put this outfit together and it just felt a little boring, so I had to add the neon belt.  It's still mostly black and white, right?

Since it wasn't quite pitch black outside when I got home, I braved the frigid temperatures and wind to take some pictures outside.  I was not brave enough to take my coat off.  I shouldn't be complaining about the weather, because we are supposed to get about 8-12 inches of snow, with blizzard-like winds on Thursday.   Is it spring yet??

Bubble Necklace Bandwagon

I'm finally jumping on the bubble necklace bandwagon.  I wasn't really sure about them when I first started seeing them.  Then I liked them, but wasn't about to spend $88 for the J.Crew version.  Then I started seeing them at Charming Charlie, but still wasn't sure.  Then I got 2 gold watches for Christmas, so I decided to swap one out for the bubble necklace.  So this is technically a Christmas present. (Thanks, Mom and Dad!)

I'll also confess that Hilary Duff inspired this outfit.  Since I was a teenager when she became famous on the Disney channel, this is sort of embarrassing for me.  Wikipedia just told me that she is now married and has a baby, and now I feel old!  The internet is a crazy place.

The giveaway is still open - tell all your friends!

Billy Elliot

Last week, I went to Billy Elliot, as part of our Broadway season tickets.  I have to say I was a little disappointed.  The dancing was pretty impressive, but I thought the story was pretty slow-moving and not very engaging.  The music was also kind of boring.  As I write this, I can't even think of how any of the songs went.  That said, I did think the actors were great.  The main character was played by a 14 year old boy, who was super talented.  The next show is Beauty and the Beast, so I can almost guarantee I will love it!

Rock and Roll

Wednesday evening, I went with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law to see Rock of Ages, which I keep wanting to call Rock of Love.  Not the same thing at all, except for the Poison connection.
The show was ridiculous!  Very fun, great music, but definitely not appropriate for kids.  I felt bad for the parents who thought it would be a cute show for their 8-year old kids to attend.  Broadway shows are always more scandalous than I expect them to be!

When I grow up, I want to be a rock star, or a Broadway star or something.  I really think I'd be great at it, other than the lack of musical talent. I should probably just stick with playing Rock Band on the PS3.

Sunday Best

This coat was a lucky find a few years ago.  I have trouble with coats, because the sleeves are never long enough.  When I found this coat at Gap, I immediately loved it.  Then I noticed the size:  Medium Tall!  Yes, please!  They normally don't carry the tall sizes in stores, but someone bought it online and then returned it just in time for me to buy it on clearance.  Thank you, random coat-returning person!

I went shopping with my mother-in-law this afternoon, and we meandered into Charming Charlie.  She bought a super cute new black and gray scarf, and when we got the to car, she surprised me with a pink scarf I had been admiring.  Best Mother-in-law ever?  Yeah, I think so.  (and I'm not just saying that since she might read this!)
