Dress to Skirt to Dress
Remember when I chopped this purple maxi dress into a skirt? Well, apparently I wanted to still have a purple dress, because I was inspired to make it into a dress for the day.

Happy Easter!
HAPPY EASTER!! I hope everyone had a wonderful day celebrating and spending time with family. After church, we went over to John's parents' house for lunch and family time. We were throwing the frisbee in their backyard when the wind caught the frisbee and it went into the neighboring yard. John went to get it, and as he picked it up, some kids from the next house over yelled at him that it was their frisbee. He explained it wasn't, and came back into our yard. I'm not exaggerating when I say the one kid was wailing at the top of her lungs for about 15 minutes. The older kid kept yelling at us that it was their frisbee. They got it in their Easter basket and they wanted it back. Then his sister would sob "Say it louder!" After a bit, their mom came out to see what was going on, and then shortly after that, she came out with a frisbee very similar to ours. And that is how we ruined Easter for 2 little kids.
This is what I wore to church. I'm just not sold on the color of this dress. It's way too similar to my actual skin color. I'm still tempted to dye it. Maybe an eggplant purple color? I'm a little scared I will ruin it, but I don't think it is flattering on me in it's current state. Such tough decisions...

It's Raining, It's Pouring
After a few days of gorgeous sunny weather, we have had a few days of gorgeous rainy weather. I am pretty okay with gray skies when it is still 60+ degrees outside! And no tornadoes, please.
I wanted to wear my wellies, but they were in the garage, and I was in a hurry. Regular boots will work just fine for splashing through puddles.
So, is anyone else going to see The Hunger Games tonight? Against my better judgement, I'm going at midnight. I'm pretty excited! I might be kind of sleepy on Friday, but I'm willing to take that risk.

Bonus Day!
Happy Leap Day! This outfit is from a couple weeks ago, when John and I went out to dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day!
This dress is one of the last things I purchased before my shopping break. It was about $5 at Old Navy. I'm not crazy about the color, but I think it is a cute style and will mix into my wardrobe well. I'm thinking about trying to dye it, but I haven't decided yet.

Zebra day
It's the last day of the ABC Challenge! I can't believe it is over. I jumped in kind of late, since I was also doing the Winter Challenge, but it has been so fun to follow along with the prompts for each letter, and see what other bloggers come up with.
So, Z is for Zebra! I have exactly 1 Zebra print item in my closet, and it is a strapless maxi dress. Not the best for a rainy February day. Since I'm on a shopping break, I couldn't go out and buy something new to wear, so I had to get creative. I folded my dress in half to make a skirt!
At first, I had it so the bottom of the dress was my skirt, but then I flipped it, so the top of the dress is forming a little cuff at the bottom. I liked it better this way, plus now I can use the pockets!!
I felt a little lumpy, with so much fabric folded and bunched around my waist. I also had to be careful about the inner layer shifting too much, and sneaking out the bottom. Overall, I felt a little ridiculous throughout the day, but I think it looks pretty cute in the pictures.
Special thanks to Kayla for hosting the ABC challenge. It has been tons of fun, and I've found some great bloggers to follow!

Peter Pan Syndrome
This outfit is from last Wednesday, which turned out to be a kind of ridiculous day.
First, I overslept. Then, I could not decide what to wear. After trying on no less than 12 different items of clothing, Igave up had a stroke of genius and decided on this dress. I thought I would spice it up a bit with a belt and my new green tights. Then I felt like Peter Pan, so I wore boots to minimize the amount of visible green leg.
I was running late as I ran out the door and backed out of my driveway. I pushed the button to close the garage - nothing. So, I pulled up closer and pushed the button again. It's not moving. So I ran into the garage, and punched in the code on the number keypad - nothing. So I ran in and pushed the button by the door, it starts to close, so I run out, carefully hopping over the sensors. As I'm getting into my car, the door stops closing and reverses to fully open position. So annoying! I try a few more times, and it's not going to close. I called John to ask him for advice. After determining that we had no idea what was wrong, I just had to close it manually. Then I had to brave our front porch, which was covered in snow! I made it to my meeting just 10 minutes late. John was able to fix the garage door. No problem!
When I got home from work, I checked the mail for the first time in several days. There was a Valentine's Day present from my mom! When I picked it up, it made a strange sound. My first thought was that she had sent something breakable and it was shattered. My second thought was Legos. But really, why would my mom send me Legos??
Because she is awesome, is why! And because the Lego girl shares my name, and my hairstyle. And she's apparently a rock star, which I have always wanted to be.
Green tights + a new toy = I will never grow up!

Stripes + Scarf
Happy Saturday! Believe it or not, this is not what I am wearing today. This is from Monday, when I actually looked presentable. So far today, I haven't been very stylish. Saturdays tend to fill up with all the chores I successfully avoided throughout the week. I should really hire a housekeeper and a personal chef. Then I'd have more time for important stuff, like taking pictures of myself in cute outfits and post them on the internet.

I'm blue da ba dee da ba da
Tonight, I went to see Blue Man Group with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. In honor of the occasion, I wore blue. I'm so clever!
Most days, I sit here with nothing to say, but today was an eventful day, I guess.

- This is a dress I usually wear for weddings, or similar occasions, but I decided to rock it as a skirt today. This is a trick I'm going to have to do more often.
- It's also the first time I've worn these sweater tights. I got them for free, with a $10 off your purchase coupon at Younkers. I'm sure they expect you to spend more than $10, but I just picked up some socks and tights and I think I paid about a dollar total. Awesome. They look like cable knit confetti cake, with little colorful spots all over.
- I had a crazy static cling problem all day, too. My dress just got shorter and shorter as I walked. I felt like I was in an early 90s Bounce Commercial. I'm going to put a dryer sheet in my purse to prevent future static attack.
- Blue Man Group was crazy. I've never tried mind altering drugs, but I imagine the experience is similar to the crazy Blue Man shenanigans. I had to close my eyes a few times to prevent a strobe light-induced migraine. Overall, it was a pretty cool show, but just very strange!
- I accidentally went to Iowa tonight, too. When I see a sign for the interstate, and it doesn't specify direction, I assume I will get to choose a direction at some point. That is not always the case. I ended up driving around Council Bluffs with no idea how to get back to Nebraska. Don't worry, I finally made it home.

Wedding Wednesday - Just last week
On Friday, one of my friends from college got married. Two of my best friends and I decided to make it a Girls' Night. I'm sure our dates were happy to stay home.
I'm getting a lot of use out of this $7 dress. I think I've worn it 4 times so far. That's less than $2 for each time. I won't do that math on my other dresses, it's probably pretty bad.

'Twas the Night before Christmas...
This is my sister/best friend. She and I have very different styles, but always have fun shopping and sometimes even share things. Isn't her sweater cool!? I wish she lived in the same town as me so I could steal it sometime!
I asked my nieces what they think about our outfits and got the following comments:
M: First, say this is me and my big sister. She's only wearing that sweater because she can't see it. If she could see it, it would make her dizzy.
S: I don't know
D: They are both kind of white at the top, like the pearl necklace and the other necklace.
E: That's BEAUTIFUL!!!

Sunday Best
This coat was a lucky find a few years ago. I have trouble with coats, because the sleeves are never long enough. When I found this coat at Gap, I immediately loved it. Then I noticed the size: Medium Tall! Yes, please! They normally don't carry the tall sizes in stores, but someone bought it online and then returned it just in time for me to buy it on clearance. Thank you, random coat-returning person!
I went shopping with my mother-in-law this afternoon, and we meandered into Charming Charlie. She bought a super cute new black and gray scarf, and when we got the to car, she surprised me with a pink scarf I had been admiring. Best Mother-in-law ever? Yeah, I think so. (and I'm not just saying that since she might read this!)
