Camelot

This is what I wore recently when I went to see the Camelot musical.  I'll be honest, most of my knowledge about King Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere is from the movie First Knight, which I thought was just about the coolest movie ever when I was 10.  The broadway show didn't quite measure up.  I mean, it was okay, but just not amazing like I expect my musicals to be.  None of the music stuck with me at all, I didn't sense any chemistry between Guinevere and Lancelot, and honestly, King Arthur just seemed way more likable, so I don't understand why she would even be tempted to leave him for Lancelot.  But whatever.  It was a fun way to spend the evening.  And it was warm enough to not wear tights, so all around a pretty good day.

Oh, and I might be a jerk for saying this, but theaters really need to have something in place for larger folks.  These seats are pretty tiny to start out with, and I was unfortunately sitting next to a guy who really needed 2 seats.  Southwest would have totally kicked him off a flight.  And yet, I had to make myself as small as possible and lean into my MIL's space to avoid contact.  I wondered if I should speak to an usher at the intermission, but what are they going to do?  And then I'd really feel like a jerk.

So maybe I would have enjoyed the show more if that hadn't been an issue.  Hopefully that guy doesn't also have season tickets.

Different but the Same

This outfit felt very familiar, so I dug into the archives.  Yep.  It's almost identical to the last time I wore this scarf and cardigan, almost a year ago.  Except my hair is shorter now, and my belly is bigger.  It's amazing how much changes and how much stays the same!

Three Closet Orphans Combined

I love this scarf, but somehow it got buried under my other scarves and I haven't worn it in over a year (according to my blog archives, which are probably pretty accurate).  I'm happy to rescue it and start wearing it more regularly again.

The dress also got lost in my dresses.  I think I've been picking my black/white striped skirt more often and forgetting to grab the dress.

The cardigan is a tricky one.  I bought it when Gap was having a Friends and Family sale, and I wasn't finding much, but I was just in the mood to buy something, so this cardigan came home with me.  It's a pretty thick/itchy wool fabric, but it's pastel purple.  So it's sort of confused about whether it belongs in winter or spring.

I wore this a few weeks ago, and then Heather posted a super similar outfit!   I guess great minds think alike when it comes to putting lavender and stripes with a floral scarf!  We must both be ready for spring to arrive.

Trifecta Tuesday - Colorful Scarf

This is the only legitimate outfit I wore during the week in Indy.  This was my outfit for church.  I thought my nieces would like it, because it is kind of crazy, but D said it was a little boyish.  I don't know any boys who wear pencil skirts and polka dot cardigans, but maybe I am just out of the loop.  M was excited, because she was wearing polka dots, too.  I took advantage of my parents' backyard and took pictures in several different locations!

In honor of Trifecta Tuesday, here are 2 other ways I have worn this scarf:

Topknot, Come Down!

There is a story my mom tells about one of the first times she met my dad's parents.  She had her hair up in a bun, and my grandpa started quoting scripture at her.  Matthew 24:17 says "Topknot, come down!" Implying that women shouldn't do their hair in a topknot style.

It was a joke.  The verse actually says "Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house" but my grandpa was making a little "out of context" Bible joke.  I don't think anyone knew he was joking.  He was sneaky with his humor like that.

I think about that story every time I put my hair up like this, so I figured I should share.

Guest Starring

I'm guest posting for Bri Marie today, over at Work Clothes, I Suppose.  You should go read my post over there, where I completely copycat one of her outfits.  Then you should start following her blog!

This worked out nicely, because I am still in somewhat of a sugar-induced stupor from all the birthday treats I had yesterday!

I'm so excited to be participating in TWO blog swaps right now.  You should all go check them out and join in!

My outfit up above is from about a month ago, before the temperature was up in the 90s every day.  It's not really jeans/scarf/cardigan weather right now.

Cinnamon Perfume

At my office, there's an air freshener in the bathroom.  This is a good thing, as we wouldn't want a smelly bathroom.  There's just one problem:  this air freshener has a personal vendetta against me.  It likes to go off right when I walk in the door, so I'm hit with a blast of cinnamon scent, which settles in my hair and I smell like Big Red gum for the rest of the day.  I should probably stop wasting my actual perfume, because it is just overpowered by cinnamon.

This entire outfit is from the Gap.  I guess the shoes are technically from the Gap Outlet.  And the scarf was a Christmas present from my sister, but it's also from Gap.

Happy Easter!

HAPPY EASTER!!   I hope everyone had a wonderful day celebrating and spending time with family.  After church, we went over to John's parents' house for lunch and family time.   We were throwing the frisbee in their backyard when the wind caught the frisbee and it went into the neighboring yard.  John went to get it, and as he picked it up, some kids from the next house over yelled at him that it was their frisbee.  He explained it wasn't, and came back into our yard.  I'm not exaggerating when I say the one kid was wailing at the top of her lungs for about 15 minutes.  The older kid kept yelling at us that it was their frisbee.  They got it in their Easter basket and they wanted it back.  Then his sister would sob "Say it louder!" After a bit, their mom came out to see what was going on, and then shortly after that, she came out with a frisbee very similar to ours.  And that is how we ruined Easter for 2 little kids.

This is what I wore to church.  I'm just not sold on the color of this dress.  It's way too similar to my actual skin color.  I'm still tempted to dye it.  Maybe an eggplant purple color?  I'm a little scared I will ruin it, but I don't think it is flattering on me in it's current state.  Such tough decisions...

Bright and Sunshiny!

More outdoor photos!  This is what I wore to church on Sunday.  I pretty much always wear bright colors, so this day of the challenge was NO PROBLEM!  I felt a little too springy in just the sweater, so I threw the scarf on to add some extra color and feel a tad more appropriate for January  (even though January is feeling more like March or April--AMAZING)

Bumble bee Chic

This from Thursday, my first day back to work after a whole week away.  I had SO MANY EMAILS to sort through.

The last time I wore this sweater, one of my co-workers called me a bumble bee.  I promise that the stripes are really more of a neon green than yellow.  Maybe he thought I was a radioactive bumble bee or something.

This scarf was a Christmas present from my sister.  When I opened it and saw the tiny bits of neon green in the colorful pattern, I immediately wanted to pair it with this sweater.

And these are my new glasses!  I'm pretty excited to finally have new frames with the correct lenses!  It's been quite awhile.

I hope everyone has a very happy New Year!  Be safe!
