J.Crew Inspiration

Here's the Inspiration for my outfit of stripes and leopard print.  It was also a good excuse to debut my new $3 shoes.  I don't know when TJ Maxx got a "final sale" clearance section, but I am a fan!

I don't really know what else to say today.  Just have to get through the rest of the week and then my mom gets here on Friday!  By my calculations, I haven't seen her since last Thanksgiving, so I'm pretty excited.  Plus we are going to see a performance of Les Mis on Saturday, which should be amazing, as always.

Shopping Ban Over!

April 12th is here!  This means my self-imposed 3 months of no shopping is up.  I was pretty good at following my rules, mostly by staying away from stores.  There were some very tempting sales going on, so it was tough!  Here's the list of items I ended up with since my ban started on Jan 12th.

  • Black flats (worn in today's pictures) - these were legal for 2 reasons:  I had a gift card to Dillard's, and I desperately needed a new pair of black flats.  My other pair was literally falling apart, so these were on my list of cheats if I found a good pair during the ban.
  • 2 shirts at Loft (one worn here and here, and the other hasn't been worn on the blog yet) - I was using a gift card.  I still have half of the gift card, so I will need to hit Loft again soon.
  • Brown Belt (worn here)- no gift card, but this was on my list of cheats.  I've been wanting/needing a brown belt for quite awhile and hadn't found one I liked.  I was killing time at Urban Outfitters after the baseball game, and before Pub Quiz, and just saw this belt on clearance.  I couldn't pass it up!
  • Pink skirt (worn here)- this falls into the thrifting category of cheats.  J. Crew skirt for $3.50 - not too bad!
  • I<3fun. t-shirt- I had to get a souvenir from the concert.  This falls into entertainment, not clothing, right??
So, I think I might be going shopping after work!

Winning!

My company had our annual Service Awards Banquet on Saturday.   The theme was Hawaiian, but it was kind of freezing outside, so I just grabbed a floral top and called it good.

I got my award for 5 years!  I can't believe it has been 5 years.  I later realized I should have taken a picture holding my award plaque!  I'm I'm still fashion blogging when I get my 10 year award, I'll try to do better.

Peter Pan Syndrome

This outfit is from last Wednesday, which turned out to be a kind of ridiculous day.

First, I overslept.  Then, I could not decide what to wear.  After trying on no less than 12 different items of clothing, I gave up had a stroke of genius and decided on this dress.  I thought I would spice it up a bit with a belt and my new green tights.  Then I felt like Peter Pan, so I wore boots to minimize the amount of visible green leg.
I was running late as I ran out the door and backed out of my driveway.  I pushed the button to close the garage - nothing.  So, I pulled up closer and pushed the button again.  It's not moving.  So I ran into the garage, and punched in the code on the number keypad - nothing.  So I ran in and pushed the button by the door, it starts to close, so I run out, carefully hopping over the sensors.  As I'm getting into my car, the door stops closing and reverses to fully open position.  So annoying!  I try a few more times, and it's not going to close.  I called John to ask him for advice.  After determining that we had no idea what was wrong, I just had to close it manually.  Then I had to brave our front porch, which was covered in snow!  I made it to my meeting just 10 minutes late.  John was able to fix the garage door.  No problem!

When I got home from work, I checked the mail for the first time in several days.  There was a Valentine's Day present from my mom!  When I picked it up, it made a strange sound.  My first thought was that she had sent something breakable and it was shattered.  My second thought was Legos.  But really, why would my mom send me Legos??

Because she is awesome, is why!  And because the Lego girl shares my name, and my hairstyle.  And she's apparently a rock star, which I have always wanted to be.

Green tights + a new toy = I will never grow up!

EBEW: Sequins + Sparkles

If you are thinking I wore this skirt last Tuesday, you are correct.  I'm wearing it again for the Everybody, Everywear Sequins and Sparkles challenge.  Also, I love this skirt, so I'm happy to have an excuse to wear it again this week.

Most of my pictures are taken after work, and you can totally tell that I am not quite awake in this picture.

I took inspiration from my gold skirt, and decided to pull out some of my yellow gold jewelry that I hardly ever wear.  These 3 pieces were all gifts from my parents when I was in high school:

Pearl Ring:  birthday present when I turned 16, I think.  My mom found this really cool ring at one of the mall jewelry stores, but it turned my finger green, even though they said it was 14kt gold.  So, we returned it, and went to a different store, where I picked out this one.  I love this one, too, but I wish the other one would have worked, since my mom picked it out for me.

Opal necklace:  present on my 18th birthday.  Opal is my birthstone, and my mom picked this style, which I really love.  I think I wore this necklace almost every day for about 4 or 5 years.  I've been thinking I should get a longer chain for it.

Hebrew Name necklace:  my dad got this for me on a trip to Israel.  I just put my name into Google translator, and the necklace is correct.  Wouldn't that be embarrassing if I was wearing a Hebrew necklace all these years that said "stupid American" or something??  I do think it is backwards in this picture, so that's probably embarrassing enough.
