Book Review - New Dress a Day

One of my very favorite blogs is New Dress a Day, so when Marisa wrote a book, I was so excited to read it!  If you aren't familiar with her blog, she basically takes ugly clothes and refashions them into amazing pieces!  The book has a little bit of "Sewing 101" and then goes into step by step instructions for how to refashion several items.

Marisa is so talented, and she seems like such a nice person, too!  Seriously, if you aren't reading her blog already, you need to go do it.  I finished this book the same evening that I started reading it, and now I just want to go buy ridiculous items from Goodwill and transform them into fashionable pieces.  I think I might make that a goal for 2013.  I couldn't do it every day, but maybe one transformation each month would be feasible.

Jacket: Izod
Shirt: Loft

  1. That skirt is fantastic! I'm digging on sparkles and shine, but everything I see in stores is so obnoxiously loud. This one is perfect.

Also, I would love to see how you transform Goodwill pieces into something fashionable! I look forward to you taking up this task :)

  2. First, I just followed that link, and I love her blog already! My in-laws got me a sewing machine for Christmas and I'm so excited to learn how to re-fashion some thrifted pieces. I can't wait to see what you come up with too! :) Second, I love love love this outfit. The skirt is just enough sparkle, but feels down to earth enough to pull off any day the way you paired it with the striped shirt and denim jacket. You look great!

    1. Isn't she amazing! I just can't believe how she comes up with the ideas for transforming those pieces! I'm hoping to do more re-fashions in 2013, so I'll try to post as I go. You should definitely try it, too!
