Emerald City

Last week, I hit a major "fashion blogger" rite of passage.  For the past year and a half, I've mostly taken pictures in my backyard or in my house.  Sometimes, I would take pics in my office at work, if I had to go somewhere right after.  Last week, I decided I needed to step up my game, which involved getting my courage up to take pictures in random places (in public!).  It might look like I am just standing in my driveway, but I'm actually posing by a currently empty warehouse building.  It seemed like a good choice, because there's a "For Lease" sign in the window, so I assumed no employees would be there.  I was nervous the whole time that someone would drive by and ask me what I was doing.  I need to find a better spot!   Any advice on scouting a spot?

As you may have noticed, I'm always up for a bloggy link-up challenge, so when I heard about Marissa and Heidi's "Pantone Spring Color Challenge", of course I was going to participate.  Day 1 is Emerald Green.  This is easy, because green is one of my favorite colors!  I used it as an excuse to wear my new dress, even though I was way overdressed at work.  This dress makes me feel sort of fabulous, and it has pockets!  Winning!

Dress: Banana Republic Outlet
Blazer: Gap

  1. You are more brave than me. We ventured out one time in public and it was early in the morning.

This dress is a gorgeous color and looks awesome on you! Heather

  2. I love the dress! You look great even if you are overdressed for work!
As far as locations, I use my front and backyards, nearby parks when I think they might be empty and or I seriously pretend that we are tourists if I need to use a very public location. But then people ask if me and whoever I'm with want to have a photo of both of us. We always say yes.

  3. I have tried taking photos in public places a few times. I just look for some place that looks totally deserted and hopefully isn't located somewhere people I know might see me! I really love this dress, and the striped blazer is a great addition to the outfit!

  5. what an amazing dress! you definitely killed it with the color of today's challenge--thank you so much for participating with us. and i totally admire you for jumping out of your comfort zone with your picture taking. i tried a couple times here and there to do that when i first started blogging but it was so hard to find a decent spot and not freak out whenever i thought someone might be coming into the vicinity! so back to my bedroom i went. ;)

  6. So brave! It's been a long time since I've had the courage (or time) to go take outdoor pictures! When I did though, I'd often go to a park with a part of a running path with lots of trees, so that the trees would block people from seeing me unless they were actually on that part of the path. :)

  7. OMG OMG your dress!! Andi, you look smashing in a dress! This color looks great on you with your dark hair and pale skin - love it. And that blazer?! SO CUTE. I'm glad you decided to go to work overdressed - it totally works for you! I'm not bold enough to go somewhere random for photos yet. I can barely go outside my own door and do them outside, for heaven's sake! Haha! They keep telling me it gets easier, but I'm not so sure...

  8. I really like this dress on you! Really! As for going in public I try to find places where people are not. Like the parking lot in the middle of the day. There's a church with an awesome red wall ive been wanting to photo with but there are always people in the parking lot! What's up with that?!
