The End of Shorts Season

Since tomorrow is Third Thursday Threads time, I'm thinking ahead and doing my Pinned it and Did it post on Wednesday.  This type of pre-planning is really impressive for me, because one of my top skills is procrastinating.  Seriously, if someone would pay me to NOT do the things I'm supposed to do, that would be great.

My inspiration comes from a Loft catalog.  When I saw it, I had none of the pieces, but I just loved the look.  Fast forward to the end of summer and I have a chambray popover and some white shorts.  I still haven't found the perfect black/white striped cardigan, but polka dots are a good replacement.

I suspect this may be my last shorts outfit of the year, but maybe summer will hold on a bit longer.  I love layers, scarves, and boots as much as the next OOTD blogger, but I don't love the icy/snowy/frigid temps that generally come with the fashions!

Cardigan: Old Navy
Top and Shorts: J.Crew factory
Shoes: Target

  1. Cute combo! I'm still wearing shorts when I get home from school, but yes I think their days are very numbered.

  3. Ah yes, you got in the chambray and white shorts outfit! I love this with the red shoes too! And I'm with you about the weather. The fashion is nice but I wish it could just hover around 60-65 degrees for all of fall!

  5. Very cute! Where I live right now is pretty much fall weather year-round, so I'm lucky that I get to finally wear fall outfits without the looming frost/freezing temps that come later! I'll probably miss that about this place once we get back to the big O. Hope you guys get to enjoy some fall weather for awhile before it gets TOO cold!

  7. I tried to copy a similar look once. It failed because I didn't know about size and proportions-- my shirt was too big and baggy, the cardigan was too small and fitted. It fell short of the original. I like your version! Especially because it gives me another idea as to how to wear the polka dot cardi :)

  8. Oh I totally know the ad that you are copying this from! I love the proportions on you, it's so easy to mess that up but you NAILED IT!

  9. Love the cardigan! I just ordered a black/white stripe cardigan from Banana Republic. http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1000527&vid=1&pid=556707012

It's 40% off right now, so if you want one, get it now! I ordered it yesterday and it was only 35% off at that time so you can get an even better deal than me..haha

You are more than welcome to have our S. GA temperatures for the next month or so(it will still be shorts weather well into October for us, and sometimes with heat waves you can end up wearing shorts in Nov and Dec too).
