Closet Orphan - Gray Booties

Back in summer 2012, I did a little Closet Ultimatum challenge for myself.  I basically took out all the summer clothes that I hadn't worn, but wasn't quite ready to get rid of, and I gave myself a month to wear everything or it had to go.  I thought I'd do it again in the winter, but then I kind of forgot about it.  Well, in January, Danielle did a Reverse 30X30, and Kate is currently doing her No Longer Neglected posts again.  After my real 30X30, I'm more aware that extra closet clutter makes it more difficult to decide what to wear, so I should really dig out my closet orphans and either rescue them or send them away for good.

I'm not going to do an official "challenge" or anything, but I'm going to try to work in these neglected items in the next few weeks.  So first up are these gray booties.  I bought them in September, from Payless, because they were $7 and I thought I'd wear them frequently this winter.  I think I've worn them once or twice. I like them, and they are very comfortable, but they are just awkward to style for some reason.  I think I need to try them with a skirt or dress and see if that works better.

  1. I know what you mean about closet clutter. I have really been trying to streamline things. Your booties look super cute here! And those jeans fit you really well!

  2. Great idea! I try to pick at least one item a week that hasn't been worn for a while to create an outfit around. It helps me to make sure I'm wearing most of what's in my closet. And if it still isn't getting worn I know it's because I really don't want to haha.

  4. Yeah, this length of boots is hard to style. I have a pair in this same length and I find them hard to style sometimes. Usually I go with skinny jeans or a skirt/dress too. These are really cute though!

  5. I know what you mean! I have a pair in a similar height, and they looked great when I bought them, but I realized that's because I was wearing tights. I think you could pair them with any flowy dress or skirt? Good luck with your orphans!

  6. Those booties are really cute, Andi! I think they'll look great with a skirt or a dress - both with tights for the remainder of the winter, and with bare legs once it finally warms up :)
