Valentine's Week - Pink Dress

Well, I ran out of pink and red things that would look good together, and I'm saving the grand finale for tomorrow, so today is just a pink dress.  But it's very pink, so that has to count for something.

I just bought this dress in January, and this is the first time I've worn it.  It should probably be the last.  I really love the style, fit, and color - but it's just too short.  It seemed a reasonable length in the dressing room, but it must have shrunk on the drive home, because it's barely fingertip length now!  And the there's no seam allowance to let the hem out at all.  I've just been wanting a fit-and-flare shirt dress like this for so long, I think I was blinded to the flaws.  Oh well - at least it was only $6!  I should be able to make most of that back at the consignment shop, right??

Although, I do wonder if I could chop out the lining and add a few inches of solid pink.  Would that look pretty or stupid?  And please don't say "yes."

Dress: Gap
Sweater: Urban Outfitters
Belt: Limited

  2. You could add one of those lace skirt extenders. I'm thinking about white lace! Super girly but cute!!

  3. I love shirt-dresses so I would totally wear this. I would add some Burgundy or Red Silk or Shantung part to the hem, like 3 inches. It would dress it up a little bit and add some flair to the dress. My idea.

I also saved the best for last. Stay tuned tomorrow for my Grand Finale of VDay Week because I have a great post in the works. Thanks. =)

    Happy VDay, Ada!! <3

  4. You can always put dress pants or jeans out of it. That what I do when I love a dress that to short for me. Can't wait to see tomorrow outfit.

  5. I don't think your idea would look bad at all! It is a cute dress so it would be a bummer to let it go. There are also those lace bottom slips I've seen on groopdealz or jane that might work to add some length!

  6. This is a really cute dress! And it looks okay in the pictures so I could see how it would look fine in the fitting room mirror. I think it would work with an extender underneath.

  7. i think it would look cute if you added a block of another pink. or you could wear it with leggings or skinny jeans as a tunic. it looks great on you!

  8. I've gotten really picky about dress length lately, but I think you can get away with a shorter hem in the winter when it can be paired with leggings!

  9. I know nothing about hems and lining, so I can't offer any advice. I'd see how much you can get at the consignment shop, or see if you have the receipt and/or tag and go to Gap and complain. I'm not sure how Gap handles issues like that, but I know The Limited once took an item back because of how much it stretched out. Or maybe it was an even exchange. This comment just keeps getting less and less helpful, doesn't it? At least the pink and grey look great together :)

  10. Oh my gosh, I LOVE that dress! It doesn't look too short, but if you're uncomfortable in it, then it's probably best to re-home it or alter it to work for you better. I agree with Kate - the pink and gray look amazing together!
