A Birthday Party

Several of my friends have birthdays in the coming weeks.  An unreasonable proportion of my college friends have birthdays in the late Sept-early Nov range.  So we always had lots of birthdays to celebrate this time of year.  Over the weekend, one of my friends had a kind of epic 30th birthday.  I skipped the roller skating rink, because I'm clumsy enough on my own..  Strapping wheels to my feet seems like a recipe for disaster.  So J just met up with everyone for dinner, which was at a bar with karaoke.  I wasn't brave enough to participate, but a few friends did and it was awesome.  And then a few strangers sang and it was very bizarre.  There was an eclectic mix of folks at this particular locale.  The best part - my friend gave our favor bags (just like in elementary school) that contained awesome things like slap bracelets and Lisa Frank stickers.  It was like 1993 all over again!  So fun.

Okay, the actual best part was hanging out with friends that I don't get to see very often.  But the favor bag was pretty great.  And I absolutely can't believe we are all turning 30 this year.  I still think of my college friends as "new" friends, but I guess we've known each other for 11+ years now.  Not so new anymore.  Funny how that happens.

  2. Haha! Lisa Frank. Oh the 90s. Sounds like a smart move skipping the skates. The older you get, the more that fall hurts. No thanks. I'm liking how the stripes and dots play together.

  5. Every time I'm near Party City or any kind of party store, I feel like I should throw a themed party. Or even just get a hodge podge of stuff. I'm pretty sure if I ever have kids, I'll get them to do a pirate/ninja party once, a winter in summer party, a breakfast for lunch party. ... or this is just what I'll do for myself one of these days. Anyway, glad to hear you had a good time :)

  6. Haha, I like your descriptor that you have an "unreasonable" number of friends with birthdays in the fall. It sounds like you had a pretty great time this weekend--I want a slap bracelet so bad now!

  8. what a great birthday weekend. that scarf is gorgeous. I love how a little fringe scarf adds so much fun to an outfit. I am wearing a fringe scarf of my own, today. =)

  9. The combo of this scarf + a jean jacket is perfect!!

Birthdays seem to pour when they rain, don't they? I love the idea of a "throwback" goodie bag, I was a Lisa Frank fiend at one point! Karaoke is my favorite too. You just need to find a go-to song and you'll be good to go! Mine is usually "Fancy" by Reba McIntire.

    ♥ perfectly Priya

  10. Hahaha, Lisa Frank, YES!!! I was a massive Lisa Frank freak when I was younger - I had tons of Lisa Frank stickers, folders, bookmarks, diaries, Trapper Keepers...hahah! Yeah, I was that girl. I really like the idea of the party favor bag with all kinds of throwback items - so clever!!

Also...you look adorable. The combo of navy and orangey-red is so bold!
