Bok Choy Baby

Enough people have asked.  I figured I should finally turn to the side and prove that I am indeed looking quite pregnant these days.  This is actually my outfit from yesterday.  28 weeks pregnant, for those of you who care about that type of thing.  According to my super helpful "what type of produce is your baby" app, this kid is roughly the size of a Bok Choy.  Right.  Super helpful.  I had to look it up, because I didn't know what it was.  Answer: fancy Chinese cabbage.

In honor of Valentine's week, I decided to try this skirt with the belly band, and it sort of worked.  Warning to anyone who wants to try this trick in the future - satiny fabrics do not cling properly to the band, so you have to be careful any time you sit down or stand up to make sure your clothes are still properly aligned.  Since I mostly sit at my desk all day, this wasn't a huge issue.

Disappeared

Hey there, Internet Friends!  I didn't mean to completely disappear for a week, but I didn't have any downtime to blog while I was in Indiana visiting my family.  I did post a few updates on Instagram, so I hope you weren't too worried.  You know, all 10 of you who read this blog.

Anyway, I'll be getting my pictures together for a little recap of my adventures in Indy, but for now - an outfit from a couple weeks ago.  This is still pre-haircut, so I'm cringing about how frazzled my ends look.  I shouldn't let it get to that point!  BUT I really liked this outfit, so I'm posting it anyway!

I love the look of yellow and pink together.  This combination goes back to my favorite swimsuit from childhood.  It was pink with yellow polka dots.  I was a very classy 3rd grader.

Getting Nerdy

After doing the Closet Inventory, I started playing around in my Excel spreadsheet.  Because I'm cool like that.  This may not be interesting to anyone else, but I thought it was fun to slice and dice the data by different pieces.  And then I made some pie charts.  Because I'm cool like that.

First up, where I buy all this stuff!  It is no surprise that Gap is far and away the leader.  If I add the Gap brands together, it's almost half of my wardrobe (Banana Republic and Piperlime are in the "other" category). I was surprised that I have more Loft than H&M or Limited.  I haven't had as much luck at Loft in the last year, but I guess I still have items from prior years.  Which brings me to...

Over half of my wardrobe has been purchased in the last 18 months.  I think this is largely due to the fact that I've been getting rid of stuff, and also because I like to shop.  (and also because I've gained some weight, but let's not talk about that, mkay?)

Finally, I wanted to see what colors are most represented.  And isn't this a pretty little graph?  Other than the random assortment in the upper left quadrant, the sections look pretty cohesive.  I've read a few things about building a remixable wardrobe, and I've never purposely shopped for certain colors, but somehow it has worked out.  I buy what I like, and I tend to like greens, blues, and pinks, as well as the black/white neutrals. Which means most items go well with most other items!

So now you know what my closet looks like in graphical form.  You're welcome (and I'm sorry).

Take One - Take Two

Back in February, I did the Take One, Pass It On Challenge with Sarah from Sarah's Real Life, but I kind of cheated and made up my own rules.  She's at it again and I'm going to do it for realsies this time.  We're starting off with an outfit that I wore a couple weeks ago for the Pantone color challenge, but never posted, because I was lazy on my birthday.  If anyone asks, my boots and cardigan are "carafe."  Not brown.

This is another outfit that seemed like a good idea in my mind, but just didn't translate when I actually put the clothes on.  Maybe if the cardigan was longer, or maybe if the top was shorter, or the skirt was a pencil instead of a wrap.  I tried tucking the top in, but I felt fat when I did that.  I added a belt, but then it felt like I had too much going on.  After work, I played around a little bit and actually liked it best when I tied my shirt. Which is what I did the first time I wore this skirt.  Maybe it's just a tricky skirt.  Who knows.

Anyway, make sure you come back tomorrow to see which item is being passed along!  It's so SUSPENSEFULLLLL!!!

Polka Dot Week - Skirt

Polka Dot Week continues with my Barbie skirt!  As I mentioned the last time I wore it, I'm having trouble knowing what to wear with this skirt.  I don't know why, but I just have "outfit block" or something.  What do fashion bloggers call it?

Anyway, I looked at Pinterest, but it wasn't very helpful.  Then I was reading blogs the other day and saw Laura rocking her pink and white patterned shorts!  I love how she paired the navy/mint with the pink/white shorts and thought it would be a perfect copycat with my skirt.

I really loved this outfit!  It was comfortable and cool for the crazy hot weather, but I still felt pretty fancy.  And I got to wear my new Limited necklace!  I've been looking for a mint necklace for several months, and this one was on clearance for $6, so I snagged it.  It's not exactly what I had in mind, so I may keep looking, but it is pretty cute.

Don't forget to link up with me tomorrow and show off how you have been wearing polka dots!  I'm excited to see more inspiration!

Label Maker

Happy Friday!  It's been another busy week, so I'm ready for the weekend!  This skirt is another item I picked up while my sister was visiting.  We just love to shop together!  It was love at first sight with this skirt, so I bought it without really thinking about how I would wear it.  When I searched on Pinterest for pink polka dot skirt, most of the pictures were of toddlers, so maybe I'm outside of my age range here!

One thing I've been working on for the past couple weeks is my blog labels.  When I started, I was just using general labels, like colors and "dress/skirt/jeans", etc.  I wanted to have each item labeled specifically, so it is easier for you (and me) to find other ways I've worn a particular item!  So if you are interested in other ways I have worn this necklace, you can just click on the label at the bottom of the post and find all my other outfits.  Pretty slick!

It's also going to make remix posts much easier for me, because I can find exactly what I am looking for without trolling through 400+ old posts.  Pink necklace remix - BOOM!
