Third Thursday Blushing

It's the Third Thursday of the month, so that means I'm linking up with Bri.  The theme for February is blush.  I don't have anything in this color, mostly because it would match my skin and wash me out.  So I grabbed my palest pink item: this necklace.

I wore it on Valentine's Day, so decided to be as cliché as possible and wear read and pink.  Mr. Baby was still not feeling the best, so John stayed home with him and I went to church by myself.  Which is why i could wear a necklace and my hairdown.  When I got home, Mr. Baby immediately achieved a death grip on the necklace and was heartbroken when I wouldn't let him play with it.  Choking hazard, buddy!!

Anyway, that's my story.  And I'm happy to report the temps are finally rising, so we may not have snow on the deck for much longer.  You know, until the inevitable March snow storm.

Twofer Tuesday Turkey Tracks Top

Extra points for SUPER ALLITERATION!  This top came in my first ever LeTote box (more about that later), and it was my favorite of the 5 items, so I wore it 2 ways.  Granted, it was the same day.  But I wore one outfit to lunch, and one to dinner.  You can tell I look significantly more frazzled in the second outfit pictures, because Texas Roadhouse isn't a great restaurant to have a 4 month old with you.  I mean, the rolls are delicious, but the wait staff is line dancing when I could really use a drink refill, and I just get annoyed by that whole thing.

Anyway, according to LeTote, this shirt is covered in wrens, but according to my father-in-law, they are turkey tracks.  And I can't really disagree, if Google images is telling the truth.  Either way, I love a black and white printed top, so I don't really care.

#4 - Inspired, but Not Really

When John saw me in this outfit, he said "You're wearing a necklace like a normal person."  I have no idea what that means.  Then he said "You look very housewifey."  Also, no idea. If I was a housewife, I'd probably just wear yoga pants all the time.  It's probably good that I'm not a housewife.  He's been saying the weirdest things about my outfits lately.

I actually wore this a couple weeks ago when I met Ginny for lunch.  We had this whole scheme to meet before Shorts Week, and wear shorts outfits, and take pictures and totally blow everyone's minds with our amazing skills of theme week!  But then I had to dress up for work that day, because we had clients visiting the office.  So, we still had lunch, but our shorts plans were foiled.  And then we forgot to even take a picture together.

Just one other thing about this particular outfit.  My intention when I started getting dressed was to copy Kate's outfit.  Then I remembered that I couldn't wear jeans that day, so I was going to wear my white skirt with my navy/white striped sweater.  Then I saw this lace-front sweater in my drawer and grabbed it instead of the striped one.  Then it felt kind of bland with the white skirt, so I traded that for the pink skirt.  And then I remembered this pin, and thought it'd be fun to match my necklace to my skirt.  And that's how my outfit ended up looking absolutely nothing like my original inspiration.

Valentine's Week - Red Jeans

It's the first day of VALENTINE'S WEEK and I'm kicking it off with a little red and pink combination.  I'm so excited to have 5 lovely co-hosts for this theme week!  Make sure you go check out Laura, Kate, Inge, Brynn,  and Danielle to see how they are styling red and/or pink this week.  (And you can link up your own posts any day this week!)

Now I have tried to rock red and pink in the past, and it ended up in the 2013 Hall of Shame.  In that outfit, I went all in, and it was too much, but that's how fashion goes sometime.  So, today I'm going for a smaller scale.  It's possible I will get more adventurous as the week progresses, but for today, just a pale pink necklace with my red jeans.

Here's a free piece of advice - when you are wearing a light-colored wool sweater, and a dark colored blazer, by the end of the day, it will look like you were snuggling with a polar bear.  So maybe throw a lint roller into your purse!

Label Maker

Happy Friday!  It's been another busy week, so I'm ready for the weekend!  This skirt is another item I picked up while my sister was visiting.  We just love to shop together!  It was love at first sight with this skirt, so I bought it without really thinking about how I would wear it.  When I searched on Pinterest for pink polka dot skirt, most of the pictures were of toddlers, so maybe I'm outside of my age range here!

One thing I've been working on for the past couple weeks is my blog labels.  When I started, I was just using general labels, like colors and "dress/skirt/jeans", etc.  I wanted to have each item labeled specifically, so it is easier for you (and me) to find other ways I've worn a particular item!  So if you are interested in other ways I have worn this necklace, you can just click on the label at the bottom of the post and find all my other outfits.  Pretty slick!

It's also going to make remix posts much easier for me, because I can find exactly what I am looking for without trolling through 400+ old posts.  Pink necklace remix - BOOM!

Plaid Shirt Remix

Happy Monday!  I got home late last night from a pretty epic best friend weekend in Arizona, so I will be sorting pictures and posting more about that later this week.  For now, a little remix to kick off the week!

This picture reminded me that I have been neglecting my plaid shirt for a few months!  I specifically thought I would wear it frequently throughout the winter, because it has so many colors that I could pretty much throw any cardigan over it and look put together.

I'm also learning that a statement necklace doesn't make a very loud statement if it is the same color as my skin.   Be honest, did you even notice that I am wearing a necklace in these pictures?

If my archive searching is correct, this is only the 5th time I've worn this shirt.   Disgraceful, but still enough for a remix collage!

Snow Day!

Take One, Pass It On Item:  purple tights from last Tuesday's post

Well, Winter Storm Q finally arrived yesterday after much speculation about how much snow it might bring.  I worked from home, because the news said getting to work would be fine, but getting home would be tricky.  I figured it would be best just to stay home, since I can remote into all the programs I need.  I was starting to feel foolish, but the snow finally started around noon, and I think we got about 7 inches by evening.

I'm glad I am a few days ahead on outfit photos, because what I wore today was definitely NOT blog-worthy, unless I start a side blog about how to wear sweatpants and slippers.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Losing It

Well, I'm finally going crazy in my old age.  I have never been a forgetful person, but in the last few days, I am really starting to wonder what is wrong with me!  I am so scatterbrained!  Here's some evidence:
  • On Sunday, I went to Beauty and the Beast with my MIL and SIL.  We met for dinner before the show.  When I got to the restaurant, I noticed my wedding and engagement rings were not on my finger.  Cue panic attack.  I was sure I hadn't taken them off for any reason that day, and was terrified that they had fallen off somewhere as I was walking around downtown.  Turns out, they were on the dresser.  I had taken them off when I put on hand lotion.
  • On Monday morning, I got to work and my computer was not on my desk.  Apparently I took it home for the weekend, and completely forgot to bring it back.  I had to drive back home to get it, thus starting my day about 45 minutes later than originally planned.
  • Monday evening, I was getting ready to ship all the presents out to my family, so I was sorting everything into piles.  There are 4 presents under the tree to John from me.  I remember buying and wrapping 3 presents.  I have no idea what the 4th present is, and since I put everything in different sized boxes to be sneaky, I don't even know which present is the mystery one.  The next day, I realized that the mystery present isn't "to John". It is "to Jason", my uncle-in-law.  Apparently, I am illiterate.
I am hoping this is just short-term memory loss due to holiday stress and I will be back to my usual brilliant self in January.
