DIY - Name Collage

Remember a couple weeks ago, when I said it was my parents' 40th Anniversary?  Well, I wanted to do something special for them.  I had seen a few ideas on Pinterest, and settled on this one

I thought it was super cute, and a fun personalized gift that was still classy and would look good on display.  Also, our last name is 4 letters, and there are 4 kids - pretty much meant to be!

Step 1:  I emailed my siblings and asked them to pretty please buy some poster-board, cut out a giant letter and take a picture for me.  They were all on board with the plan!

Step 2:  Find a collage frame with the correct number of picture holes.  At first, I was looking for a 4-hole frame, but wasn't having any luck.  I thought a 5-hole frame would be easier to find, and decided I'd add a picture of my parents to the project.  After I was really excited about that idea, of course I found a 4-hole frame, and couldn't find any with 5. I got the frame, and ordered a custom mat from Hobby Lobby.

Step 3:  Take my own photos.  We were all dressed up for a wedding, so we thought we'd take that opportunity to get the pictures taken.  After several silly ones, and a few legit shots, I thought we were good to go.  Then when I ordered the prints, they were all blurry, which I didn't notice at all in the originals.  Rookie mistake - the cropping made it all blurry!   So, we had to do a second photo shoot!

Step 4:  Once you have the frame and the pictures, just put the whole thing together!  I'm really pleased with the finished result!  And I think my Mom and Dad were happy with their gift, too!
