FBFF - Vacation

Ah, vacations!  One of my favorite things in the whole world.  When I was a kid, my family took some big vacations, but I don't remember most of them, since I was so young.  These vacations were pretty much non-stop running from place to place.  In high school, I went to Turkey with my dad, and fell in love with traveling.  That was back in the olden days before I had a digital camera, so I don't have any pictures to post.  I need to pull out my album and scan those pics!

In college, I was able to spend a month at Oxford, with a few weekend trips to London and Rome.

In Rome - at the Coliseum.
In 2006, I had the opportunity to go to Kenya with my Dad and a group from our church.  It was an incredible trip.

Then in 2007, I got married, and we decided to try out an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica.  This is when I fell in love with lazy beach vacations.

In 2008, we went on a cruise to Alaska with John's family, and (you guessed it!) I fell in love with cruising.  Can you tell I pretty much love any vacation??

In 2009, we didn't leave the country at all!  We had a few little trips to visit family, and had a family reunion in Colorado.

In 2010, I was convinced we needed to go on another cruise, so we decided to check out the Southern Caribbean this time.  Amazing!

In 2011, our vacation was in Washington, DC.  This was a lot of fun, but I was so tired the whole time.  I have a feeling this is what my family vacations were like - running from one tourist attraction to another.  This convinced me that we should make sure to take lazy beach vacations every so often.

Just about a month ago, we took our big 5-year anniversary trip to St. Croix.   It was amazing!

When I try to decide what vacation was my favorite, I get stuck pretty soon.  I just really love to travel and see different places.  Now that I'm a real grown-up, I also really love taking a break from work and spending time with John.

  1. You're so well traveled! I'm super jealous of your trip to Africa, but they all look like fun! I'm less of an all-inclusive resort/cruise type person though. Resting is for when I get home - I have things to see and do when on vacation.
