Blazer Week - Black Blazer Blogiversary Remix




Just Another Smith turns 3 today!  I can't really believe it, but I supposed it must be true.  I've come a long way (I think) since that very first post.  I didn't realize this blogiversary would coincide with Blazer Week, but it gave me an idea to do an EPIC REMIX COLLAGE featuring my black blazers.  First up, my current one from H&M (which I'm wearing in the above pictures).  I bought this one back in April of 2013, and have definitely gotten my money's worth:

Prior to buying the H&M one, I got by with a Limited option that I'm pretty sure I bought at TJ Maxx for $10.  This was my makeshift suit for most of college and I know I wore it to every single job interview during my end of senior year panic.  It only made the blog 6 times (most frequently with my black/white blouse!), but I thought it deserved a little honorable mention.

In conclusion, if you don't have a classic black blazer, you should probably go ahead and get one!  If you are anything like me, your cost per wear will easily end up under $1.

Oh, and here's a bit of free advice: Outdoor pictures look better, but when the weather "feels like -2" it might be wiser to just stay inside!  Not that I took my own advice, obviously.  I took these pictures yesterday before going to work and just about froze.  What kind of person wears a sleeveless dress with a light blazer and tights when it's in the single digits?  A blogger, I guess.  I did immediately put a heavy coat on, so I'm not completely insane!

    I love this outfit on you - and yes, I agree that outdoor pictures look better, but brr.... I was thinking about taking some outdoor pics myself... but I don't think my down-coat counts as a blazer, lol!

  4. Your mint pants! (#7) I completely forgot about those! Did you get rid of them? Also, crazy deja-vu, I swore I just typed you a comment saying Happy Blogiversary! And you are a trooper. I hate my indoor pictures but I just can't with the zero degree temps. I don't get the girls who do it without tights and try to play it off like "omg it's so beautiful outside even though there are mounds of snow around me and my lips are blue and goosebumps are the size of golfballs." Anyway. Congrats on the big 0-3 :)

  7. Happy Blogaversay! All these black blazer outfits got me thinking that I really should wear mine more often! My favorite may be when you paired it with your leopard scarf and bright green top.. but today's outfit is a tie for the winner. I used to wear the sleeveless dress + cardigan + tights + boots combo a lot, but it seems like none of my dresses are very winter looking. This one is perfect though and I think that necklace was a good finishing touch to this outfit! Also, I'm not sure how you're standing outside while smiling in that cold of weather! I've never even felt "feels like -2" ever!

  8. What a cool remix and congratulations on three years of blogging. I think it's such a neat thing that you have your outfits cataloged for the past three years, besides enjoying such a fun hobby. And I did the same thing today. Took my pictures in teens temps and then ran inside and donned my heavy winter coat.

  9. What an amazing remix! Just goes to show that a black blazer is definitely a wardrobe staple. I think my favorites are #6 (with the fun green pants!) and #13 (with the cobalt skirt). Basically, this post has made me realize that I need to wear my black blazer more often!

  11. EPIC REMIX INDEED! I loved this! I am dying to find another black blazer - preferably something ponte or knit jersey or something that is stretchy and soft! I ADORE this outfit, by the way. The black and brown combo is spot on :) And happy blogging anniversary! I can't remember exactly when it was that I started reading your blog, but I'm thinking it was realllly close to the beginning - you've always been one of my faves, my dear!

  12. Happy (belated) blogiversary, and thanks for hosting Blazer Week (I actually managed to get a post up last minute!) So I'm thinking once you find that magical, perfect blazer for you, then it becomes a where-with-all piece. I wore my black blazer for my link, which I bought after searching for a long time. I wear it from time to time, but I honestly don't *love* it. I think it's more of a "boyfriend" fit, and I like a "fitted" look better. All this to say: I recently picked up a little boys black blazer (I've heard that's where it's at) as a hand-me-down from a co-worker. I'm really hoping it's magical for me. BUT I am glad you've found your perfect black blazer, it has certainly worked out well for you!!
