#12 - Navy Week - Black and Blue

Black and Navy - once fashion rules dictated that never the 2 should meet.  But this is the future, and fashion rules don't really exist anymore.  (Trust me, ever since Stacey and Clinton on What Not To Wear told me I can wear white pants any time of year, I've pretty much decided all fashion rules are obsolete.)

So here's my first attempt:  Basic LBD + navy scarf & shoes.  Silver belt to give myself a waist.  I think it looks pretty cute, but then again, I am the one who came up with it.

What do you all think about wearing black and navy together?

  2. I've liked it ever since I found a black and navy purse that I really liked - which reminds me that I have a black and navy purse...may need to go find that and use it today now that you've got me thinking about it! :) But I love this look. So classic!

  4. I love the color combo myself, it looks really Parisian. Also, the ankle straps on your shoes are just too adorable.

  5. I pretty much avoid this combo, but I think you pulled it off really well! The navy and black are different enough in shades that they look good!

  6. I wore cobalt (I think this looks cobalty here actually) and black together last night for our open house. I like the combo!

  7. I almost never wear navy and black together, except when I just don't care. I'm going to say this look works on you, but it's either because the scarf isn't super dark navy, or because it's an accessory? I'll get back to you on that one. In the mean time, enjoy successfully pulling off black and blue :)

  9. I've never been brave enough to pair navy and black, but you look so fantastic that I think I might have to give it a try!

  10. Stacy and Clinton know what they're talking about too! They pretty much set the fashion standards in my world. Sometimes I'll throw some gray in with my blue and black. I know it's all neutrals, but I feel like it mixes it up a little.

  11. I'll admit to having a hard time styling black and navy but I think since your legs break up the black and navy with the shoes, it's harder to notice the color difference. Your scarf is a lighter shade of blue so that makes it pop against the dress! Great idea to break this color rule :)

  12. I have such a tough time with navy and black. You did it well here. Once a co worker of mine wore a navy and a black shoe to work. She just happened to have the same pair in the 2 colors and it was so funny because it was so noticeable but she got dressed in the dark. After that incident, I am so afraid to wear black & navy together.

  13. I love pairing navy and black! I've seen Kate Middleton do it, and, if the Duchess can do it, then we all can!

  14. I agree, it's cute! Considering there are tons of clothes out there that have black and navy together already on them, I think you're safe!

  16. YES! I love black and navy together! I never thought it could work until I saw this amazing dress at H&M years ago that was navy with a black floral print. It was so beautiful, and I decided last winter to try the combo out...and I loved it! I'll need to give it another shot when the weather cools down, I think! :)
