This polka dot blouse is a dress. Or at least, that's what they want you to believe. It might be an appropriate length of dress on some people, but it is not a dress on me. I'm trying it out as a shirt today, and I think it works okay. The biggest problem is that the back of the dress is longer than the front, so if I wasn't careful, a little bit showed out of the slit in the back of my skirt. Awkward!
Anyway, I felt very ladylike in this outfit, and also kind of edgy with the moto jacket. Also, when did we stop saying "pleather" and start calling it "vegan leather"? By "we," I don't mean me. I will keep saying pleather. I should really dig up a picture of my 1997 pleather jacket. It was awesome until it started peeling. Then it was not so awesome. Maybe I'll have to bring back Throwback Thursday!
Top: Old Navy (dress)
Jacket: Relativity
Skirt: J.Crew Factory
Shoes: BCBGeneration
I think that's a great idea taking a too short dress and turning it into a shirt. This outfit is great! It's very professional but has some sassiness with the red skirt and your pleather moto jacket.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love the dress under a skirt idea. Maybe you could pin up the tail of the "dress" next time so you don't have the peek a boo issue with it? And I'm with you. It's pleather.
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks fabulous as a top! I love the polka dots against your bright pencil skirt!
ReplyDeleteI really have to try the dress as a shirt look. Is that a miniature iron next to you? I didn't know vegan leather and pleather were the same thing-- I thought vegan was supposed to be high quality, and pleather is cheap. I don't know. I do know that I adore your jacket. In 2006, I was on a mission to find a white (p)leather jacket. That never happened. Bring back Throwback Thursday!!
ReplyDeleteHaha I had realized that they weren't calling it pleather anymore. Even faux leather I could excuse but now it's getting ridiculous. I didn't realize that your top was a dress, it looks great with your skirt!
ReplyDeleteI really, really like this outfit, Andi! The dress/top/whatever is so cute, and it looks really nice with that skirt and jacket! Also, I definitely think you should bring back Throwback Thursday! I have actually scanned a ton of my own childhood photos so that I can recreate some of my old fashion disasters, haha! I just have to take the time to organize them and plan outfits around them :)
